What Pitchers Do You Dominate With ONLINE?

Title says it all!

I am looking to add the FINAL pieces to my online roster and they are strictly pitchers.

With that said, I am currently running;

Seaver
Scherzer
Niekro
Harvey
Hamels


Now I do really enjoy using Seaver, Scherzer and Niekro, but Harvey and Hamels CONSTANTLY get lit up for me!

Who else is out there that you guys really enjoy using online? I like Pitchers with good Breaking Balls. Curve, Change Up, Knuckle etc. I find the high heat gets just crushed online!


So what are everyone's favourites?


My final online team is;

1B - Bagwell
2B - Altuve
3B - Schmidt
SS - Ozzie Smith
C - DD Player

LF - Marte
CF - Trout
RF - Lofton

I don't have much "Power" in my line up, but I've found that speed and contact has been killing it for me online. I get consistent home runs out of Altuve, Trout, DD Player, Bagwell and Schmidt. So the others are strictly for getting on base and speed around the bases.

It's a bummer how easily people hit fastballs online. Guys like Dennis Eckersley who don't have a change up or a curveball get crushed. I wonder if that's just a result of people using directional hitting? Because I will still miss a lot of fastballs online and I use zone hitting.

Maybe if online matches were set to Legend or Hall of Fame difficulty things might be different, too. All-Star difficulty is too easy when you consider that most teams have godly hitters who can cover the entire plate with their cursor. On the rare occasion when I can get a fastball past a hitter, he usually just fouls it off harmlessly.

I agree.

I have Eckersley and I don't really bother bringing him in unless its absolutely necessary. Not a big fan of the stuff he provides.

Guys I currently have my eye on are;

1) Nolan Ryan + Yu Darvish (Complete The Set)
2) Felix Hernandez + Adam Wainwright
3) Jose Fernandez + Johnny Cueto (Budget)

I am leaning towards Hernandez + Wainwright due to the endurance benefits. But I haven't used either.

The pitcher I dominate the most with is Koji Uehara for some reason. In a bullpen with Uehara, Jansen, McGee, Betances, Rosenthal, and Street, Uehara is just heads and shoulders above the rest. His spliter works great as an off-speed pitch, and his cutter appears to be a really late breaking slider. Also, I rarely miss spots with him, and I think it's due to his quick delivery.

Darvish has a nasty curve. I would recommend him.

Changeup and curveballs seem to be the most effective pitches online. Fastballs get crushed.

Nolan Ryan is excellent, just don't expect huge strikeout totals. Through 3 starts for me, he's gone 9, 9, and 8.1, giving up 0, 2, and 0 runs while striking out 5 in each. Think he has only given up like 8 hits combined.

Wainwright is batting practice.

I don't know about the other guys, but I LOVE Wainwright. I've pitched four times with him now, and he's been solid EVERY time. 7 IP+ with only 1 or 2 runs given up!

Nolan Ryan = 2 W, 0 L, 6 IP, 0.00 ERA, 6 SO, 4 H, 0 HR, .174 AVG

Yu Darvish = 0 starts even though he's been in my rotation for 10 games now

Jack McDowell = 2 W, 1 L, 26.2 IP, 2.70 ERA, 30 SO, 23 H, 3 HR, .237 AVG

Jeff Samardzija = 1 W, 1 L, 11 IP, 5.73 ERA, 7 SO, 15 H, 1 HR, .341 AVG

Sonny Gray = 0 W, 1 L, 11 IP, 6.35 ERA, 11 SO, 14 H, 3 HR, .311 AVG

Summary = don't overlook Jack McDowell! His fastball hits 94 MPH and he has nice break on his curveball/splitter.

Tanaka is absolutely dominate for me he just has a slow release

Jordan Zimmerman is great for me

I'm doing the Neirko set because his knuckleball just killed me online it's impossible to hit

Really? I honestly had no issues hitting him. Guy pulled him in the 2nd inning.

I don't know I tried contact swing power swings normal swings and I was hitting the knuckleball perfect but kept grounding out to third or flying out

I am a HUGE fan of Wainwright. He feels like Wainwright. You as the user have to be smart because he doesn't have anything over powering so you just have to hit your spots and change your opponents eye and also change up your speeds well. His sinker is a pitch you should focus on when you start as it will be his most dominant pitch if you can get it going. I mean he is Wainwright so he does have the ridiculous 12-6 that drops from the top of the zone to bottom. Only issue is that it's pretty easy to pick up on so I tend not to throw too many as it can make you pretty predictable. His changeup has never been that great for me personally. I tend to use his cutter, sinker, and 4 seam the most. Every once in a while I'll test my opponents eye and hit him with a low and outside curve (no, not in the dirt lol) and see if I can nick the corner. Sometimes it works other times it's usually just a foul ball or a swing and a miss. Overall though, I got him day one in my third pack and he will never leave. I should also add I'm from STL so I may be a bit biased. Lol.

As much as I hate him IRL, Cueto is an absolute stud in game. His 4 seam and 2 seam have so much movement and are nearly unhittable up in the zone. He's also got a decent slider and a pretty good changeup. I tend to get Wainwright more but thoroughly enjoy my time when I do get to pitch with Cueto. His stuff is a little more overpowering too so that helps.

The guy I was playing left it hanging a few times and I tee'd off on it. Maybe I just got a bad user skill with him?
