Great Teams of the 20th Century

    Hey all,

I decided to create a greatest teams 25 man roster set and the focus will be on the teams from 1947-1999. I will be using TommyJ's RBU, and I'll be configuring the pitch type using OOTP 15 in concert with a formula created by doncropper.

These will be built on MLB 14 as I haven't switched over to MLB 15 as of yet. I probably will switch later on in the year and when I do I'll be porting this roster over along with my Late 70s set I created earlier > http://www.operationsports.com/forum...seventies.html .

    VERSION 1.0 - Completed August 8th, 2015
*Note - teams listed first are in the Major League level with following teams in AAA and AA if applicable. Lineups and pitching rotations are set for Major League level teams only, but all players have proper uniform numbers. Remember though, in season play you'll lose the use of retired numbers but they will stick in playoff mode.

That is an incredible list of exciting teams. This roster set will make it so easy to interchange Teams to create endless interesting Season Replays.

Thanks for undertaking such an exciting set !

Re: Great Teams of the 20th Century

Just a couple of things if you'll be using my utility for this:

More recent teams will be more dominant due to the gradual increase in pitcher and fielding ability coming from natural progression in pitching and defensive statistics over the years. You may want to keep an eye on team averages for pitching and defensive attributes and make some adjustments accordingly if you want to keep the roster competitive, which should be fairly easy to do if you export the players to the team pages in the roster utility. Also, using career ratings might help a little.

My utility was primarily designed for creating single-season rosters, so keep that in mind.

That said, since you're focusing on the last 50 or so years, I don't see the results being skewed all that much, but, for example, pitchers from the 50s through 80's are going to have a hard time striking out players on modern teams.

For the updated version, I am considering putting in an option which will scale all ratings to 2014 levels to help with this. While not as historically accurate, it will better serve objectives that match yours.

Should be a few weeks before I finish, though.

Thanks for the heads up. I can make any adjustments, and I really enjoy your utility. I used it for my last Late 70s set, and I'm pleased with the results.

              Hey Ghost,
I'll throw in the '82 Braves on my end. Free of charge

That is awesome! But if you find yourself short on time, that's okay too.
Loved that early eighties Horner/Murphy power combo.
And then throw in some Phil Niekro madness to boot.

Yes sir right. My hope is for SCEA to soon make coaches names editable too.
This Braves team had Joe Torre at the helm, Bob Gibson as pitching coach, Hank Aaron's brother Tommie as 3rd base coach, as well as longtime Cardinals GM Dal Maxvill on the coaching staff. Alas, come playoff time they were swept by eventual World Series Champions St. Louis

We also need custom leagues, bring back the old stadiums and more old unis.

Yep, you're right. Made the change and thanks! A few more teams and the AL is complete. Hopefully by month's end. Then on to the NL.

Ok! Almost totally done of the AL. Hit a snag as my son needs my laptop to study for final exams, and it has all my ratings data on it. Probably be mid to end of July before I'm done. I'm a teacher by trade so things will pick up in the summer. The teams that are complete are marked on the first post of this page.

Such a GREAT Massive Project !

Does this mean you are using the AAA & AA slots for the 2nd & 3rd years for each team as listed on the 1st page of this thread and will release them all as part of a single roster? Or, will you be releasing 3 separate rosters with each set in the MLB slots?

Thanks for all your hard work with this project,
                              Don
