Basically it's when 2K releases an update to the game. As you can tell, there have been 4 patches since the release of the game in October. Usually everyone is speaking in terms of the latest patch, Patch #4. So when you see pre-patch, they're talking about prior to Patch #4, and Post is after the patch was released.

Main issue people had with Patch #4 was the shooting. Shooting the ball became so easy that 2K had to drop everyone's mid & 3 point ratings by 8 points to compensate. It ended up making everyone alter the sliders as guys would shoot 75% as a team in games because of the patch.

lol annoying? It's simple English.. Pre prefix means before, Post prefix means after.
