    Salary Cap Idea

A lot of folks have been complaining about seeing the same teams every day and I think having a salary cap would be a blast when team building.

I propose a salary cap to be implemented by adding up all player OVRs on the roster. Let's say the salary cap is between 2000-2050. This means that you can have an average of 80-82 OVR players on your roster.

Below is a sample team with a 2050 salary cap (if you add up all the OVRs below it should come to 2050). I more or less arbitrarily chose the players.

    Breakdown of this sample roster:
This starting lineup is pretty strong and the starting rotation has an ace and decent 2 and 3 guys. The bullpen is average with no true superstars. This team has a cheap bench. If you make the bench even cheaper you might be able to add some diamond hitters to your lineup, find a closer for your bullpen, or add another ace for the rotation.

    Lineup
    molina 83
    mcgriff 92
    panik 81
    Crawford 83
    machado 92
    floyd 89
    lofton 88
    dawson 94

    Rotation
    Scherzer 97
    gray 90
    liriano 85
    pineda 83
    Lincecum 79

    Bullpen
    O'Day 81
    tolleson 82
    delabar 77
    carson smith 83
    sipp 76
    jp howell 76
    cingrini 75

    Bench
    beltran 78
    E Young Jr 72
    De Aza 72
    duffy 69
    Anthony gose 73

It's a great idea. It would encourage players to look for specialists to come off the bench in the proper situations.

One guy could be 72 rated but be a defensive specialist for those late innings you need to hold a 1-run lead. One could be 70 rated but do really well against righties or something. That sort of thing.

Actually, everyone including myself would likely go with an all 40-50 Ovr bench. So, all commons, bronze, and maybe silvers would probably need to have siliar "salary cap" values.

This idea would never be included into the game. There is a reason they went an called it Diamond Dynasty Distilled they want it to become easier to get into and its paying off. Why restrict a paying user to use a team of few stars when he can have his 25 man team decked out in super stars?

I like this idea, but I think it might be best to create different leagues with caps then. So you can join multiple leagues with different caps, maybe with different rewards, like higher stubs or cards or something.

Because it took people a month to stack their teams and now there's no where to go. When you get into the higher ratings you face a bunch of Nolan Ryans and Phil Niekros and the lineups are legends and diamonds. It gets old.

I like this idea. If anything, it'd be nice to have options rather than just head to head vs a random opponent.

Also, don't let people buy stubs. Pretty lame way to be able to build a super team.

Yes I know what you are saying. The original idea behind the mode was to build the best team available but change is also sometimes good.

The way it is now, it's almost like playing the same all-star team over and over again and over again and some players out there aren't being used very much for anything other than flipping.

The problem with the salary cap idea comes into play with dynamic ratings changes. You might have the perfect lineup for you, but one of your players gets a ratings bump and you have to get rid of him because it puts you over the cap.

That's true but you could still keep the player but make a switch elsewhere.

Another idea is to have two OVRs. The salary cap OVR would be static from when the game came out. Bryce Harper's OVR was some where near 76 in April? If you happen to have him then you would get some pretty hefty cap relief for your Left Fielder - who actually plays RF

                      Re: Salary Cap Idea

I agree that a system similar to this needs to be implemented into the game.

SCEA needs to make their money, so asking them to replace the current system is out of the question.

My own solution that I've written about many times is to have two game modes. An unranked game mode against human players where you can use any team you want and completing certain milestones gives you stub, item and player rewards (hit a grand slam or hit 50 homers with a player, etc.).

And a ranked Road to the Playoffs against human players where there are restrictions on diamond and gold players. And you play 7 game "seasons" where you have to win the majority of the games to get to the 3 game single elimination playoffs and a world series. The latter two giving you large rewards for winning them.
