Best player in baseball, Trout or Harper?? or someone else

I had a debate with a friend during the All-star game about who is the best player in the game today. I think Trout is the whole package from his professional team 1st approach to his play on the field.

My friend is now on the Harper bandwagon (we had this same debate a few years ago when he thought Puig was the next Clemente) and thinks left-handed Jesus is the....well I guess THE Left-handed Jesus.

I don't like players that always disagree and show up umpires because it subconsciously, or consciously turns the ump against your team so I am not a Harper fan.

This is probably going to be a big debate for years... And it's not even including Stanton, Machado, Arenado or any of those guys either.
Trout is the best all-around player in the game hands down. Harper however is probably the best hitter in the game. Harper's numbers for hitting have been on the upside while if you look at Trout he peaked his rookie season. Doesn't matter too much because Trout is still a beast.

Trout. Yes Harper has emerged but his speed and fielding is no contest and they're not far apart contact and power wise. At least if Harper proves this isn't a fluke. Plus Harper has durability issues.

Trout has been the best player in baseball for the past three years. Anyone who says otherwise either doesn't understand baseball or is just a contrarian.

Harper has the tools to become one of the best players to ever play the game and he's on pace for a historically great season. But he's only been elite for like two months of his major league career.

If Harper meets his potential, you and your friend can argue about these two guys for the next 15 years. Then it will be a matter of preference. But right now, there's no one who can hold a candle to what Mike Trout has done. He's a special, once in a generation, kind of player.

It's Mike Trout right now over the last few years. He is the ultimate 5 tool player. Harper needs to keep it up and stay healthy to be in the convo of best player. There are other great players but i just think these guys are ahead of the pack
