Re: Mike Schmidt worth it?
Obviously it depends on who's using him. A good player with Schmidt can tee off HRs all day. If you suck hitting righties with righties, Schmidt isn't going to magically make you good. -
Re: Mike Schmidt worth it?
Even some of the higher ranked players struggle with him. He is solid, but I think for how much he costs and how much most people struggle with him at the plate that you could spend your stubs on something more valuable such as Tulo, Trout, Yogi, Cutch, Harper, Kaline, Seaver, Ryan, etc.Comment

Same. He's a beast defensively but I can't hit a lick with him. I'm talking sub 100. I have one homer though. I've given up on him and really regret completing that collection.Comment

Re: Mike Schmidt worth it?
His closed stance is unique and you seem to not get as good a look as you would with players with normal or open stances. That being said, I try to drive everything to opposite center field with him. Don't know how many times I've stayed back on pitches and ended up curling them around the left field foul pole.Comment

Re: Mike Schmidt worth it?
I'll get in some stretches, where he'll get hot and drive the ball. But more often than not, I have a tough time hitting consistently with him. After around 250 games, he's hitting just under .240 with 43 HR's and a boat load of K's. The reason I keep him in, is for his defensive game. I could try Brooks Robinson for defense, but I like having Schmidt's power to go along with the glove and arm.Comment

Arenado is basically Ozzie Smith at 3B with power.I'll get in some stretches, where he'll get hot and drive the ball. But more often than not, I have a tough time hitting consistently with him. Re: Mike Schmidt worth it?
I got lucky and pulled Schmidt early on in a standard pack. For a long time he was my guy at 3rd. I eventually unlocked Brett and started using him at third. Early on I couldn't hit with Brett. Sub 200 with little to no power and he made simple errors at third that Schmidt makes look easy. I ran into a large cold sport with schmidt and he dropped from hitting .290-.300 to around .250 so I gave Brett another look. Been running with brett since and he is hitting .290 currently. I still have Schmidt on my bench for lefties, pinch hitting and defensive reasons. As it sits right now scidt is hitting .260ish .240ish vs righties and .280ish vs lefties with 28 hr and around 85 rbi. Brett is hitting .290ish .310 vs righties and .240 vs lefties with 17 hr and around 65 rbi. All this with Schmidt having maybe 75 more at bats. He destroys lefties and defensively can't be beat but God help you if your oponant has a good fastball and can locate it up and in with a righty. For me Schmidt can't get around on that pitch that well resulting in him striking out a lot.Comment

Re: Mike Schmidt worth it?
Not unless Sony finally updates the hot/cold hitting zones for Diamond Dynasty. The same goes for a lot of players, sadly. Schmidt isn't alone in having way more cold zones in DD than he does in other game modes. I don't get why that part of the roster isn't synched like the other attribute ratings are. In DD, Schmidt is only worth keeping on the bench as a sub for defense or for facing lefties.Mike Schmidt worth it?Comment
