Reactions and playmaking by DBs is at an all time low.

I thought Madden 15 was dissapointing in terms of DBs being able to go up and at least swat or make some sort of a play so that the ball doesn't land in the WRs hands without any effort.

This is even worse. It usally occurs on a 1 on 1 situation, but my DB is in perfect position to bat the ball away and when I press right bumper, he gets out jumped and beat for the ball 80% of the time. This isn't a 1 time occurrence either because I've played about 8 games already, and at least twice a game this has happened.

There are many other minor issues with defense as well, but this issue stands above them all.

I don't have the game yet, but arent you supposed to hold down Y or A to play the ball or receiver? Pressing RB (which was swat in M15) is might be phased out

It's definitely an issue out of the boz, I agree

      Needs tuning.

        Swat is the X/Square button.

ryanmoody21 has posted some informative videos on youtube on the aggressive catch and other issues with the game. What these catches do is it gives wrs a slight speed burst, which gives wrs the space to make these superman, spectacular plays often.

People wanted wr/db interactions, but so far it looks more like highlight football, where dbs have a huge disadvantage. Instead of fixing the game's issues, they add a new gimmick while creating more problems.

On All Madden the Cornerback has been winning 80 percent of the time

I have only played one game on default All Pro but if my WR wasn't in great position and tried an aggressive catch he would get his hands on it but have it knocked out. So far they seem good.
Watch real football games. There are many times a defender is in perfect coverage and he still gives up the catch because of ball placement and leverage.
I need to play a few more games though to make a legit opinion though

I play CB and it's X (Xbox) to swat the ball. I wish it was still RB though.

So using x is better than a or y?

Honestly, I haven't been playing long and I really don't get playing the WR. Whenever I do, it's basically letting the receiver catch the ball but getting a sure tackle, but again I only played a few hours. I usually use Y when I feel I can get a pick and X to knock it down when I feel like I am not. But I have to play more to get what works in what situations more.

It depends on the situation and position on the field in relation to the WR.

If you are in position for the INT go with Y.

Don't forget about playing the WR with A. It's the safe way to defend (think possession catch on offense) and you might be able to jar the bar out of the players hands.

Try the Skills Trainer, it's no gimmick and shows a very in depth way to learn when and how to use all these new controls.

Holding Square on PS4 or X on Xbox One instead of "Play Ball" or "Play Receiver" will generally result in more swat animations, and they look great:

Here's one on a throw that came out when Big Ben got hit, notice Chancellor swats it down instead of catches it:

You can go into practice mode and force the CPU to throw shot passes to practice the mechanics. There's definitely a difference, even though swatting isn't really explained as it should be.

The first thing I did with the game was throw lob after lob to Gronkowski against a random team (landed on the Titans) on All-Madden. He out-jumped the DB in one-on-one coverage and simultaneously came down with the catch roughly 30-35% of the time. The other 65-70% ended with the pass being overthrown, the defender knocking the ball from Gronkowski's hands, swatting it away before Gronkowski could even touch it, or intercepting it.

And this is Gronkowski against a collection of average corners at best, with Tom Brady making the throws.

And just for fun, I tried the same thing with Brian Tyms, a 6'4, 70 OVR WR with a 79 catch rating (compared to Gronkowski's 94), and I had even less success.
