    FORMATIONS AND PLAYS

I noticed they took out the "Near" and "Far" formations
Why? That makes absolutely no sense at all, I loved using those formations.

Has anyone found any new plays or formations you've liked so far?

I like the Shotgun Split Slot- Shovel option. 2 HB's
You can run it like an option to one HB or throw the short shovel pass to the other HB like Elway and Favre used to throw.

Really? Did you check through the custom playbooks menu?

In the Chargers play book, there's a few bunch plays I like. I like to master the bunch formations, because people seem to favor cover 3 in h2h.

On defense, they got this new formation in Nickel. It looks pretty crazy, but I haven't got the hang of it yet.

I'll get the name of them soon.

Is the Bill Walsh playbook still on the game? I know you can't use them in custom playbooks but his book had the most variety of the classic far and near forms.

          2-4-5 double a gap
          Nickel dog 3 buzz
          SS dog 3
          And cover 2
The key with these plays are to just make the offense think about whose blitzing and whose not.. It's been a high risk and reward formation for me. If I can user the middle of the field right then it's a pick, because that's what LOOKS open.

Dime 2 3 6 or sub is a great pass defense if you have a run support SS like Kam to help on draws and shot gun runs.

Dime 3 2 6 will is definitely my favorite though. I love the blitzes out of there. I don't stick to one play when I'm playing so it's perfect.

Theres no Bill Walsh nor any of the hall of fame coaches playbook anymore
Theres a west coast offense but its not like the years past. Theres no far and near in the playbook and they added shotgun to the west coast offense.

Well that's disappointing....looks like they removed the legend books to add the shot plays and updated plays. Did they happen to add anymore variety to the strong and weak IForms sets? I remember last year they took out the tight versions (22 personnel) of these sets. It'd be nice if they brought them back.

Try the 4-3 stack SS Sam Blitz against the pass. I sub the RE with a pass coverage LB.

                1. Press "rb" then up on the right thumbstick then
                2. Press "Y" then "rb" again

Sometimes I also put the outside blitzing Safety in a fake blitz but QB spy for the QB's who like to run. Guaranteed INT's or pass break-ups

Are you able to set where players lineup within the formations prior to the game, as opposed to having to set the formations during every game?

Nope we still don't have that feature... I hate it too because every game I play I have to sub my players on different formations over and over. I don't pause the game to do it, instead do it on the fly. But Still

Damn I had an entire short yardage system using the Far. I'd use the FB dive which was pretty automatic out of that formation. In my online leagues. I would do it every 3rd or 4th and short, then wait for my opponent to load up on it to try and stop it giving zero coverage over the top, in which case I'd audible out of the FB dive and bomb it deep to my 6'6" 99 speed 96 jump WR. Sometimes I'd just come out in a pass and audible to the FB dive if he wasn't stacked up, because qudibling would give it away as a pass. Good times, good times.

I'm right there with you....I've had far and near in my playbooks since madden 99. I'm a WCO guy and those forms are bread and butter formations. Oh well, looks like strong and weak will have to be my two back set forms.
