You have to include IR and practice squad guys.. That's why every team is over 53.
It's been talked about here extensively on the CPU cuts and why it happens. It's all about the Overall rating of a player in that particular scheme.

Re: EA needs this let you start right into regular season with 53
We are overdue the ability to start a week 1 regular season cfm with accurate rosters. It is not possible to do this right now without massive roster editing, and it is simply not acceptable. To make a comparison, its like going to see a movie, paying for your ticket, and then before you can sit down and enjoy the film that you just paid for, you have to solve a rubix cube, untangle 6 knots, go back to the parking lot and re parallel park your car, then come back in and jump in a tank of water and hold your breath for two minutes. Then when you get in your seat, you find out its the wrong movie. Getting accurate 53 man rosters league wide for a cfm is about that difficult, should be a download for an updated roster and a button push to start week 1, end of story.Comment

Re: EA needs this let you start right into regular season with 53
Please, we drop $60 to play an accurate representation of the NFL, not research 32 nfl rosters and go on wild goose chase to find starters who the cpu cut and resigned to an unknown team. Big difference between being lazy and wanting a finished polished product.Comment

Screw you! CPU will cut good players also. Why don't you make the game smart ***. Has nothing to do with me and if you run a 32 team league. You would have to do it for every team due to EA messing up CFMComment

I do run a 32 team cfm, it's not hard ..to set it up takes about the same as one game on 12 min quarters. I don't care how little time you have, if accurate roster management is important to you spend the time to set it up and not post poor me threads.

Entitled to want an option to start a season with 53 man rosters instead of making every cut yourself?
Geez, no wonder Madden doesn't evolve as fast as other sports games with attitudes like this.Comment

I agree that we can just do it ourselves. Im doing it now. But it does not take anywhere near the time a 12 minutes quarter game does. You are looking at like 4-5 minutes per team. About 2 hours at least. Closer to 3 the way im doing it. It would be nice to just have a true 53 man roster. Or give us practice squads in game.I do run a 32 team cfm, it's not hard ..to set it up takes about the same as one game on 12 min quarters. Re: EA needs this let you start right into regular season with 53
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to load up a cfm at week 1 with proper rosters/Ir/ depth charts and practice squads. with one button as much as anyone. I just get frustrated with the constant bashing of the game which is actually really good this year.I agree that we can just do it ourselves. Im doing it now. And yes the set-up is more in line with what you said but it is feasible and once you do it you can make a save point and use it as a template for any future cfms.

So if you have guys injured in real life, the team will sign replacements... Where do they go on the roster??
You'll have practice squad guys that are on the game.. Where do they go?? Sure,'having a practice squad alleviates this issue. But right now, having just straight 53 players and that's it, is impossible and you guys know it

The practice squad players can go into the FA pool because that what they are essentially IRL.So if you have guys injured in real life, the team will sign replacements... Where do they go on the roster??

I agree with OP, I wish I could start a CFM at week 1 with opening day rosters without the CPU screwing them up in the preseason. If the CPU wants to cut and trade during or after week one then go ahead.Comment

They are under contract as practice squad players. I imagine the NFL won't let EA do that

Re: EA needs this let you start right into regular season with 53
Be was referencing that nfl teams can sign to the active roster from any teams practice squad. So having p. Squad players in the free agency pool isn't such a big deal

I don't think the NFL would care about other teams signing the equivalent of free agents. They are under contract as practice squad players. I imagine the NFL won't let EA do that
