Period length?
I am just wondering what is ever one playing on for Period length? What gives the most realistic stats?Tags: None -
Re: Period length?
Somewhere between 6-8 minutes seems to be the hot spot this year. -
Re: Period length?
Im getting good stats with just 5min and penalty scale on 4. 2-6 penaltys per game and shots 15-40 in games for both me and cpu. clock fels a lot slower this year like people have been talking about. Its cool that you can change penalty time scale in the match like when youre down one on a tvird periods last moments you can try to even in real time 2 minutes gives more time to roll the puck and make that pp countLast edited by Smutka; 09-21-2015, 06:16 AM."Si vis pacem, para bellum"Comment

Re: Period length?
Yep, I used to be a ten minute player but shot totals were in the high forties with that after my first few games of 16
Moved to 8, and with about the average of 2 pps that you get per game with penalty sliders maxed, shots from both sides can be in the nice 26-36 range.
Currently playing on a difficulty increased Pro ( which is definitely harder this year ) and having nerfed accuracy for both sides and taken down the CPU's wrister / snap power and one-timer nonsense, I've played out a couple of enjoyable 2-1 games with manual shot aim.
Definitely noticing a third period CPU berserker mode if it's behind in the game. Was playing as the Canadiens versus Boston in the Garden and was 2-1 up at the start of the 3rd and it was almost as if the game speed zipped up to 3.5 from my two click slider setting for a few minutes. It was satisfying to not let them score but the jump was somewhat ridiculous.
Enjoying the goal variety and the goalies, I'm scoring some scrappy efforts and having to work for them. The game's still far from perfect, I'm not sure about the precision skating and seamless pickups efficacy but I'm happy enough with it to invest time in playing this year.Comment

Re: Period length?
Might be a stupid qustion, but what do you mean real time?
I played on 13 minutes last year and shot totals might have been a tad high, but it felt good. There is no chance I can play on 13 minutes this year disappointingly enough. What did they do differently this year?Comment

Re: Period length?
The clock was never really "real time" like if you timed a full 20 minute period, the clock in NHL 15 and below was actually faster than an actual 20 minutes. I read over on EA's forums, this year EA went with actual time.Comment

Re: Period length?
Hmmm...real time? I don't like the sound of that. Does this mean your players ice time doesn't match that of the league?Comment

Re: Period length?
Not knocking you but this is a major problem with the game. IRL hockey has 20 minute periods. Shot totals should be close to realistic when you are playing 20 min periods. I don't get how 40-60 shots in a game with 20 minute periods is "In the game?"Comment

Re: Period length?
I think its the way people play. What you dont see in gameplay is a defenseman going back behind his net, waiting for the line to change. A dman will wait a full 4-5 secs before coming out to outlet the pass up the ice. In the videogame, you will get a rogue skater spamming you for the puck, when in fact he should be getting off the ice. In the game you have goalies spitting the puck out in situations where its completely inadvisable. The goalie needs to ice the puck, and get the face-off. Not keep the play alive, which usually results in a offensive breakout. You see teams in real life cycle the puck and take shots that dont hit the net.Comment
