My love/hate relationship with Live 16

Well i figured I'd look to the community for maybe some sign of hope. I will start by saying after playing the EA access version of Live and expecting big things I was sadly disappointed, but I was still defending the game to my buddies.... then I played 2k last night and I realized that as much as I wanted live to suceed it wasn't going to happen anytime soon. With 2k I got sick of playing the same game every year for the last 4 years or so. Little tweaks every year weren't enough to keep me interested and then when Live came back I was ready for a change.

14 was rough and 15 was a major jump and it was actually making me think....EA is gonna run away with basketball very soon. Then this year happened.... EA could have carried some good momentum into this season, they could have catered to the casual and hardcore b-ball gamers alike. They could have given us control of a game we the fans want...... instead I feel they gave us empty promises and a game they wanted to put out.

After playing many games of 2k last night I contacted xbox live support this morning and canceled my pre order on live.....in dissapointment I must add! EA, you could have had it, you could have made a big leap this year and you didnt. Sure you added a pro am mode which is laggy and flawed (I know, wait for the patch) you gave us rosters that are not complete (I know, wait for the patch) you gave us sliders that dont do a whole lot (dare I say it..... wait for the patch) no roster editing, no other off line modes and no major improvments this year, but wait until next year????arI

EA im sorry, I wanted Live to be good this year, I wanted it so badly I didnt even look at anything the competition was doing leading up to release....but then I played the competition...... they changed, now its your turn..... hopefully I see you next year.

Community, please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way....

I'm not talking any **** about Live at all and I'm not comparing the games. If you look at all my posts I have been a live supporter all along. What I am doing is putting out my disappointment with EA and the Live team. What difference would it be if I said the same thing in an impressions thread?

I was playing the demo last night n git upset because there's really nothing to do in live smh. Shocked they took such a huge gamble on proam.

Maybe this will finally give them a wakeup call to give the consumers what they want.

Ya honestly I like live this year and really thought maybe it would get some play but man, and honestly I don't think it's wrong for me to say, it just really is so far behind and I really can't justify playing it after what I've been playing in 2k the last 24 hours. I think I'll probably play a little once I get bored with 2k if that ever happens. There's just so much more to it. I dunno. Honestly I commend live cause it's really not a bad game it just really honestly does pale in comparison.

Re: My love/hate relationship with Live 16

I hate to say it, though this may be the knock out punch on Live this year. Played 2K16 for about 3-4 hours today and I just can't see getting Live this year. I bought Live 14 and 15, IMHO, it's just missing way too much content in comparison. At the end of the day, Live just doesn't offer anywhere near the amount of teams to play with. I was shocked to see NBA 2K16 has about 40 classic teams, I was only expecting about 20 or so. On top of that, there are all kinds of Euro and various all-star teams. I thought Live had surpassed 2K this year graphics wise, UNTIL I played 2K today, they are not even close, that's just the hard cold truth. I was kind of jaw dropped seeing how vivid and detailed 2K was. The PS4 patched version is a sight to behold. Youtube fails to do it justice.

I think EA has done a lot with Live this year, to me, it's substantially improved over last year's offering, it just doesn't offer enough gameplay offline to compete with its competition. I have zero interest in playing Ultimate Team or playing online (Pro-Am). I just like playing exhibition, street and dynasty mode, by myself, single player. I do think Live is much more accessible in a lot of ways to the novice fan, though most people who buy a basketball game are going to be familiar with the gameplay and concepts and this is where 2K is YEARS ahead R&D wise. It's almost overwhelming to a degree all the moves, signatures, styles, passing etc., that 2K offers.

I want to see Live continue the series and become more competitive, though the production value 2K offers is just so far ahead right now. Real players voices in the game interviews, the 3D studio team, Ernie, Shaq and Kenny, Spike Lee, the Story modes, AD, Steph and others giving tutorials on how to play, Jordan sponsored, 2K TV integration, 50 song sound track, just on and on. In closing, EA is going to have to AT MINIMAL double the budget and size of the team competing with 2K, if not, they are never going to even come close to dethroning 2K. Development wise 2K is at least three years ahead of where EA is right now - and that's probably being generous.

EA was able to take over the baseball and hockey genres, so it's not like they can't do it, it's just going to take a heck of a lot more effort than what we have witnessed the past few years.

Maybe I'm not buying into the hype or its too early to judge but there's some exaggeration going on here even though I fully understand that certain expectations were not met with the demo. However, it's a demo for a reason. I have played 3 games of the other game after receiving it this afternoon from Amazon and although I like the improvements in graphics and gameplay, Live has a lot to offer as well! I will be playing both games and with positive news about the large content update that just dropped I'm really looking forward to the retail game on the 29th. There are just some things that Live offers feel wise that just can't be replicated on the other side. Some of these issues were present in the competitors game last year but to a lesser degree this year. Still a concern. This goes vice versa of course. Make no mistake, the Live team has lots of work to do. Gladly looking forward to expanding on this discussion later especially after I receive the retail game and apply the patches.

Played the other game yesterday and I agree with the sentiments in this post plainly put live 16 is too far behind both in terms of gameplay and content. One of my biggest gripes with live16 is that they removed sig dribbles "which ironically the other game has now" and just put in some generic sizeups moves that even big men can do it got rid of the little player individuality that live 15 had and now the game is even more generic.EA needs to decide if they are truly going to commit to this franchise on the level that it needs because after 3yrs the end product is still lacking in so many areas, some of the things going on in this game demo or not are just not acceptable. Every year EA is apologizing for their gameplay like they did earlier this week in regards to the demo glitches. I bought live 15 but can't justify buying 16 no more excuses

EA is going to have to go back to the drawing board for NBA Live 17. Changes in gameplay and game modes are drastically needed. It's the little things that count and they can't put all their trust in an arcade mode to carry their game.

I remember Peter Moore saying this game would be where it needs to be by year 3 or 4, but the game still feels and looks like it is still years away from being that true next gen experience we need it to be. I knew the excuses would run out for them if they did not meet these requirements by year 3. They really need to consider bringing in a new engine to revitalize this game, because the one they are currently using is holding them game back from being successful. If they are not willing to take risk. then they will continue be stuck in quick sand.
