We're we supposed to not play our rookie year playoffs?

So last night I finished the first 8 games of my rookie year with the suns, and we were somehow the #3 seed in the West, and I played our first game against the Rockets but then immediately after it ended, I got taken to the free agency cut scenes and went through FA. Then after straight into year 2. Is there a reason I didn't play the rest of the playoffs?

It's just part of the way the story goes. You didn't play like 74 games in your rookie season, so it shouldn't have been much of a surprise that you didn't get to play all of the playoffs.

Your first season plays out like more of a movie. The focus is on the story. After you finish with the story (and your rookie year), the game then opens up and you can play as much as you want.

I just figured that if I was allowed to play one; you'd be able to play them till eliminated. Or at least the first round to prevent winning a chip. Playing one game only was strange

there is no excuse, the story totally takes over the gameplay your first year

I want to know what it's like playing for a championship contender like the cavs or warriors and having to sit out the playoffs personally, that must be fun

Why in the world are there FA talks? Rookie contracts for 1st rounders aren't 1 year deals..

2k's way of making it up to players who aren't happy being stuck in a forced storyline.

Some people claim that our players get released by the team but why would I, a #10 draft pick, that average more than 6+ PPG, 3+ AST,and 1.2 REB get released ? Those are some pretty good stats for a fresh rookie. Now I'm averaging 15+ PPG, 5+ AST, and at least 2 REB. I think the storyline was honestly a waste of my time. Spike Lee said that WE made the choices but really, we didn't. It was all done by 2K and we had to let Vic Van Lier take our car, we spent half a million dollars on lawyers fees, and who said I wanted Yvette to be my girlfriend ? I hope the MyCareer next year will be a lot better

The first is just pretty much a movie.
The second year is your mycareer.

NO matter WHAT you do, you get the same cutscenes, I came off a game with 7 TO's no points on 11 shots no assists no rebounds nothing but turnovers. Then got a Jordan shoe. So ya....that was awesome.

obviously it's done so players can immediately play for the team they want to, but they should've done it in a way more realistic manner

MLB the Show's road to the show mode handles it perfectly. Either enter the draft normally and go to whoever wants you, or specifically select the team you want to be drafted by. If you do the latter, depending on your grade (1st round, mid rounds, late round), you'll automatically get picked by them in that round.

2k should've done that. Either just get drafted by whoever, or pick what team you want, and you'll either get drafted by them in round 1 or round 2. would've preferred this over the totally makes no sense free agency
