For the people who started a mygm or my league what are you guys doing to work around the contract issue ?

High rated players sign for very very cheap, short term deals. Makes free agency and the off season very underwhelming.

What I do is just see who put up monster numbers the year before, or who I think would demand a lot on the open market. Gives me some pretty excited free agent classes from year to year.

Makes the off season a bit longer but it's worth it

What about free agency you just decide where the players go?

I leave free agency to automatic. I don't decide where any players sign.

Sometimes I'll step in and make sure lebron resigns with the Cavs but that's it.

Yes. There are tunes in place to address it in the upcoming patch, though.

It's confirmed, and no matter what you will have this bug. The only way to avoid it is to edit the contracts yourself afterwards and change them or do 30 team control and give out the contracts yourself.

This is supposed to be addressed in the next patch.

It is an issue you can quickly check out yourself in any case. Simply sim a season or 2 and look up the Contracts handed out in that time (FA signings as well as extensions). With the new rating structure, players will sign way under the type of deals they would have gotten under the old cap, much less the new one. Dunno where you´d need the confirmation to come from

Many of those deals are bargains under a 70 mio cap, much more so with a 100 mio cap in season 2 (where those extensions took place)

Thanks for the info fellas. My 30 man myleague online league is getting ready for our offseason. We intend to use a 30 team controlled myleague offline file to conduct free agency. So it looks like when it's time to sign your own free agents, you can low ball them with unreleastic offers so we will hold off until the patch. Thanks again.

I laughed when I seen Drummond get 2 years 9 million per.

The CPU severely undervalues bigs, and Drummond is one the guys who is almost guaranteed a max contract with someone. The CPU trades him like a throw in with this game.

I make sure he gets his max every time.

I made up my own house rule where I add $$ to each year based on a players overall rating. I use the following method:

85+ get 10m/year added
84 9m
83 8m
82 7m
81 6m
80 5m
79 or less get their contact doubled or 4m (whichever is less).

I let the cpu sign the players that they want to resign, then I adjust them. I was considering resigning some players myself since only a handful of players resigned, but I accidentally simmed passed the last day of resignings.

Here's all of the players that were resigned - what they resigned for and what I adjusted them to:
Kevin Durant - 2 yr /44.31M - 2 yr/66.12M
Andre Drummond - 2 yr/18.28M - 2 yr/34.25M
Mike Conley - 3 yr/28.96M - 3yr/59.07M
Al Horford - 2 yr/18.53M - 2 yr/35.25M
Jamal Crawford - 1 yr/4.13M - 1 yr/8.13M
Bradley Beal - 2 yr/16.49M - 2 yr 29.25M
Jared Dudley - 2 yr/8.1M - 2 yr 16.04M


I didn't test this, so I really have no idea how it's all going to pan out. I kept track of all of my adjustments in a spreadsheet so that I can edit contracts back down if need be. I currently only have 16-17 games left in the regular season, plus the playoffs, so I'm hoping that the patch hits before I get to the offseason. If not, then I'll continue using this until it's fixed.

After doing some more research I'm going to add Maximum contracts (based on years in the league) to my house rules as well.

The Max Contract will be as follows
0-6 years = 18.2M
7-9 years = 21.9M
10+ years = 25.5M

I'll have to edit Durant's contract down, but everyone else fits under those requirements.

Actually its higher than that. 25, 30, 35 (%) of the cap. Which is 100 mio in the game.
