    NBA 2K Common Sense

I keep seeing all of these posts about things that need to be fixed and about only 10% of them pertain to the ever-increasing gameplay issues. I know there is a post about bugs and glitches but can we make this one strictly about 2K's choices and how they negatively affect the game itself?

For example: There is a "Shot IQ" stat that seems to have no affect whatsoever. Russel Westbrook attacks the rim constantly and yet he chooses generic layups that result in him getting blocked. This results in him being completely useless, unless it's a fastbreak.

Now, I can go on and on about the issues that within the game (I'll probably put out an essay long post after this one), but I want to know what you guys think. Let's see if we can get our concerns heard over there at 2K.

Another gameplay issue is the pick and roll defense that other YouTubers (I'm looking at you Chris Smoove) deemed "improved" from last year. I get that there is an indicator underneath the player that tells me if I'm playing the right defense, but even that is wrong at times. However, my biggest problem is that a player leaves a person open in the corner if 2K thinks I'm not defending it well enough. I've already set my settings so that they are supposed to stay glued to that shooter but they still leave. EVERYTIME. So, in every pick and roll, I'm stuck trying to find the sweet spot that will make me defenders stay where they are but while I'm doing that, I leave the lane wide open. #ComeOn2K

The pick and roll is the hardest play to defend in basketball. You're never going to fully master it. As far as your teammates leaving people open, welcome to 2k.

Shot IQ is misnamed. It's the old Offensive Awareness. It affects reactions to double teams and loose balls, but mostly there to help tweak the overall ratings.

The problem you're talking about with Westbrook is about his standing dunk rating. Given his default ratings, since he has a very low Standing Dunk rating, he will choose to layup if right underneath the hoop. If this is you controlling him and having trouble, you need to press the shot button or shot stick while further from the hoop. If you're talking about the AI, only a rating edit can fix it.

He hit 3/3 last night in my vs rockets(user) game. Tore up the midrange game also.

I'm pretty sure his stats are in the low 70s for shooting.

let me rephrase that...he's useless when he's a teammate and the AI is controlling him. In MyCareer he does what the OP says.

My career... A place I still haven't jumped into yet. I'll back out of this thread.

Anyone who wants to play MyCareer(or any online mode) as a simulation game mode, has my sincere condolences. The A.I. in that mode is just ghastly and with no slider adjustments to at least ameliorate some parts of it, it's a total no go for me.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I don't think that's what the Shot IQ rating is for, but I get your point.

I'm not having a problem with "mastering it", the problem is when I defend a bad attempt at a pick and roll, but it's deemed 'bad defense' and results in the AI leaving a man in the corner open. I know how difficult the pick and roll is to defend, but 2K hasn't done a great job making it so without some stupid lapses on defense.

Nooooooooo, that is not the problem I am having at all. I am talking about trying to beat kyle korver off the dribble but it's either I can't blow past him (holding R2!) or, westbrook attempts a dunk but gets blocked from behind or completely blows it because of a late rotation down low (those are fouls!!!).

And yes, I've already tried letting go of R2 right before I attempt to shoot and he just loses all momentum and slows down to get blocked again.

Ok, understood. Devs have already said they're working on fixing that blocking problem for the next patch, so hopefully it'll be fixed soon.
