Re: Welcome to Tiger Land A Grambling State Football Dynasty(NCAA 07 PS2)

Jay Walker here and I'm coming to you live from Grambling State University where they are about to introduce their new Head Football Coach after Coach Spears had to step down.

Grambling Athletic Director: Ladies and Gentleman I would like to introduce to you the next coach at Grambling State Coach Matt Roman

Coach: Thank you. I would first like to say that I am pleased to be the new Head Coach at a great place like Grambling. As a former student who has been coaching at the High School level I know what it means to be a GMan and what Grambling football means to the town of Grambling. I will now field any questions you may have.

Local Report 1:Coach you are young at only 27, are you ready for this challenge?

Coach: If I wasn't ready I wouldn't be here. The Tradition of Grambling will not die on my watch as I hope to take us to new heights.

Local Report 2: Have you had a chance to talk to the team yet?

Coach:I have had a chance to sit down with the players. A good majority of them I already knew from spending time on campus in the summer and previous season learning from Coach Spears and his staff.

Local Report 1:What are your visions for your first year as a College coach?

Coach:First is to keep the winning ways going. Second is to go out and recruit the best guys I can to be Tigers.

Jay Walker: Coach, you know only one thing matters around these parts and that is will you beat Southern in the Bayou Classic?

Coach: Right now that is not on my mind or my teams mind. We will worry about that when the time comes. As a GSU Alumni I know what that game means to the fans but I want them to understand we will approach every game week by week.

Local Report 2: There have been rumors that some FCS schools might be making the jump to the FBS level how will that affect your program?

Coach: Again we will take it one day at a time and just focus on who is on the schedule for that week. If we do move to the FBS ranks that just opens up recruiting to us even more.

Jay Walker: What kind of system do you plan to run while here at Grambling?

Coach: I would like to run a Balanced Offense with the focus on the run game and a Physical 4-3 based Defense but we will go with works for us and our players. I would like to thank all of you for coming by today but I must get the practice with the team you are more than welcome to come by and see what we are doing.

Re: Welcome to Tiger Land A Grambling State Football Dynasty(NCAA 07 PS2)

Welcome to College Football Live. We are here today because of some ground shaking changes to the College Football landscape. There has been some major conference shake ups in the last 24 hours. Teams jumping to the FBS level and teams dropping to the FCS level.
Chris Fowler: The biggest adjust is coming out of the MAC where the Conference has sent all of their teams down to the FCS level to bring up some traditional HBCU teams to the FBS level.
Griese: Chris, this huge lets take a look at the teams that have been brought up to the MAC.
                1. Grambling State
                2. Southern Univserity
                3. Jackson State
                4. Alabama A&M
                5. Alabama State
                6. Alcorn State
                7. Florida A&M
                8. Bethune-Cookman
                9. Hampton
                10. Howard University
                11. S. Carolina State
                12. North Carolina A&T

Coach: Those are truly powers from the SWAC and MEAC now in one conference this should be a good one to watch. Bringing all those rivalry "Classic" games to big time football.
Chris: Now lets look at some other teams making the jump to FBS ball this year. Griese who do we have?
Griese: On the Independent side we have Tennessee State replacing Temple.

In Conference USA we have Appalachian State replacing UAB.

In the Mountain West Eastern Washington will replace New Mexico. Montana will replace Wyoming. Sam Houston St will replace UNLV.

Youngstown State and McNeese State will replace Idaho and New Mexico State respectfully in the WAC.

Last but not least the Richmond Spiders will replace North Texas in the Sun Belt.

Fall practice has come to an end and the 2006 Grambling State University Tigers are ready for some action. They are tired of hitting on each other and ready to see someone with a different color jersey on. Let's take a look at the Depth Chart before we get a few words from Coach Roman.

Welcome to this weeks Grambling wrap up. I'm your host Jay Walker. I'm here with first year Head Coach Matt Roman who has just finished his first fall camp at the collegiate level. Coach let's get straight to business.

Jay: What are you expectations for this team?
Coach: They have given me everything that they got during fall camp I do not expect that to change one bit.

Jay: Ok coach, who stepped up as leaders for this years team?
Coach: On the Offense side of the ball. QB Brandon Landers took control of things early on. He put in the time during and after practice to learn every detail of the Offense. He made sure everyone know where to line up and was like an extra coach out there. On Defense I would say MLB Dimitri Carr his Senior leadership really shined. I remember my first day here he walked in my office and said "Coach, what you need from me just let me know." I told him just leave it all on the field his last year.

Jay: Who are the Impact Players?
Coach: Going into the season we have 3: Landers, DT Donald Williams and CB Jermaine Mills.

Jay: Are you ready for the season and this passionate fan base?
Coach: Yes I am! If I wasn't I would not be here right now.

Jay: Good luck coach as your team prepares for Bama A&M this week to open not only the season but MAC play.
Coach: Thanks, hopefully this is the beginning of something special.

The Grambling State Tigers started the 2006 campaign on the road against MAC for Alabama A&M. Grambling would come out and get the early lead 6-0 in the first Quarter. They would then add a TD in the 2nd before A&M gets on the board with a FG. After that the Tigers would add one more score to make it 20-3 at the half. After the half is when things got interesting. A&M came out and scored quick in the 3rd while holding Grambling to a FG. Score now becomes 23-10. Entering the 4th A&M tried their best not to let down the home crowd as they put up 10 quick points making it a 23-20 game. Grambling would answer with a TD and FG making it 33-20. A&M got a quick fg then recovered the ensuing onside kick which they then drove the short field for the TD making it 33-30 Tigers with under a min remaining. Grambling would secure the next onside but fumble the ball on the HB Iso. Coach turns to his D and tell them the game is in their hands. On the second play of the drive the A&M QB drops back and ends up over throwing his WR FS Bryan Langford is there to get the INT and seal the victory. Tigers win 33-30 to open the season 1-0 and move to 1-0 in MAC play.

Week 2 saw the Tigers travel to East Lansing, MI to face the Spartans. Let's just say an overall B+ team showed the G-Men what it is like to play big time ball at the FBS level. In was use to be used as "Money Games" this game was to show everyone what we are building to be one day. Grambling got skull drug from the start of this one. Fumble after fumble put MSU ahead early by the end of the 1st the score was 24-0. For the next 3 Quarters it would not get any better as the Spartans continued to impose their will on the Tigers with this one ending in a score of 101-0. There was not much to say about this one at the end except that coach was proud his team kept fighting no matter what the score was.
