Historic Player Ratings that make you Laugh

Mine is defiantly John Stockton's steal rating.

Resume: NBA All Time Leader in Steals

    2K16 Rating: 77

His acceleration is also 74, when he was known for being very quick.

What players do you think 2K16 got wrong? Im to the point I have my own roster and are fixing the obvious mistakes.

Have a peek at Latrel Sprewell's sig section.

    It's absolutely ridiculous.

They've given him move sets of a center.

    Also - take a peek at T-mac and Yao's shot/touch tendencies.........

People forget that these ratings are based on a single season, in this case 1998, when Stockton was 35 years old.

The 2.6 STL% he posted in 1998 was his career low (well off his 3.5% career average which is 7th all-time) and did not rank top 10 in the NBA that year.

74 Acceleration (Quickness) is likewise fine for the highly skilled yet unathletic 35 year old PG.

        96 Jordan with an 89 3 ball.

Didn't the 05 Suns Nash have an 85 on ball defense rating lol?

I would take greater issue with Stockton's 54 Pass Perception rating

The historic players in general have very low PP despite this being an actually important rating (case in point Michael Jordan is the player 2K decided to give 99). As you said, Stockton IS the all-time steals leader.

          99 Jordan
          98 Hakeem
          98 Magic
          98 Bird
          95 Pippen
          95 Rodman
          90 Malone
          54 Stockton

Those T-MAc and Yao tendency issues are due to them basically copy-pasting their stats from previous entries where they were in their last (injruy-riddled) season as it was the most recent version available that could be translated to 2k16.

Thus, you're left with San Antonio Spurs T-Mac with Houston/Toronto attributes but with SAS Tendencies and Yao with prime Houston ratings, but with tendencies from 2010-11 when he played 5 games.

Yes probably some quick rush job and they threw this steal rating on him based off one season.

But ratings should be based on abilities not on stats.

That's like giving a QB a bad throwing power rating because he didn't complete at ball over 20 yards that season when in all the other season he completed +50 and is known to have a strong arm. My 2 cents

You're right, this is a bigger joke then his steal rating. Both bad.

                  Stats are derived from abilities.

98 was the lone season Stockton was ever hurt. I.e. his ability was limited in some regard.

Basketball stats and football stats are not at all comparable.

I know it is question about 2k16 on NG but i remember NBA 2k11 i discovered last year that Will Perdue has 99 in blocks.
Or tendancies 80 fadeaway for Charles oakley while he has Never used this kind of shot.

It is possible to find some weird ratings.
