This week on Operation Sports we're talking Sports Gaming release models, with features coming tomorrow and into the weekend dealing with this very topic. Basically at the center of the situation is the question: is the current model of one new sports game a year for each franchise sustainable into the future?

As you know, AAA game development budgets and demands are ever increasing and are not lending themselves to big leaps in quality from year to year. But it also should be noted that this year's lineup of sports games may be the best universally in terms of critical reception...ever!

So is the current model sustainable? Would something else work like an every other year model? This is the first of a couple of podcasts which lay out the potential models to let you consider. We'll break them all down in future episodes.
