    Call to Arms! (NHL community)

I posted THIS 2 years ago on the official ea NHL forums, to a generally well backed audience. Shortly thereafter I was banned, without explanation or warning after about 8 years of contribution to that forum. Evidently, I'm still bitter about the experience. Not having that little platform to voice my frustrations for my absolute favorite sport made it that much easier to skip NHL15. This was the very first time I've never had an annual iteration of hockey in all my life, quite astonishing.

I came back this year with 16, and that necessity for contributing/venting has welled up in me again, hence my presence here.

My immense frustration with this game have given me that extra motivation in rehashing THATwrite up from 2 years ago, like I had planned on doing before the last straw of discouragement, and was curious to see if there was any support here for going through with it.

With that, I was hoping someone would be able to redirect such a write up to the official forums, because there are a handful of thirsty/loyal fans that would really appreciate such an effort as well. This is an insane writeup, but I would be making it much more concise, needing video examples, and open to suggestions and scrutiny.

Hockey deserves so much better, and it has had so much better, we need to stop accepting such mediocrity for our beloved sport.

    Thanks OS

As someone who has purchased and played NHL from day one back in 92', I understand your passion. I don't have a PS4 and am playing 15' on my PS3. In my humble and insignificant opinion, it's the best hockey game to date. (Not counting 16', which I have no experience with.)

That said, I had more fun with 93', 94', 09' and 11'. The very early game(s) impact on me was part novelty and part my age at that time. We're wired to remember (and embellish) the good parts of our past and forget/minimize the bad.

Unfortunately, your opinion, my opinion and about a billion other opinions (good or bad) on EA's NHL game(s) amount to a bunch of white noise.

I hate presuming to give advice when it's not asked for but you seem to be struggling, pining for your own "good ol' days" and blaming a product for what I expect has more to do with a loss of youth.

I still love to play NHL, even at forty-five years old but I also have a wife, two kids, a career, etc.

Bottom line, nobody that matters cares about what I have to say about EA NHL. Nor should they. They have my money and I have my memories. Fair trade.

For you, play 09'. If that doesn't work, find something actually meaningful to pour your passion in to. Family, God, Country are some suggestions.

No offense but your a little late to the dance. The Pros and Cons of this game have been discussed for months. Us hardcore hockey sim guys have dissected, screamed, yelled, and posted frustration about just about everything that is wrong with the game. That all said EA has tuned and patched the game enough that many of us, though we know it still has flaws, are really enjoying our offline experience. We're heading into January and EA is already working on NHL 17 so any foot stomping and yelling is going to fall on deaf ears. The game changer event this year has a huge focus on the offline game and we have at least one guy in there that represents the hardcore sim community so all we can do is hope they listen to his input. Bottom line NHL 16, while far from perfect is better than 15 and light years better than a few years ago so the consensus is that they are at least on the right track.

If we are talking old-school NHL games, then I'd go with NHL 2004 as my favorite. The AI in that game was well ahead of its time.

I like your ideas for the new attribute system. It seems like you agree with me and most of the other OS users in that there needs to be more player separation. Hopefully we see the EA devs try something new in this regard.

While I can't completely disregard the presumptions you're making, surely there's part of that sub consciously, its quite short sighted and dismissive of the effort in the post, regardless of it's timing.

I just got done playing NHL14 and there's a stark difference in more user control than 16, which had already been diminishing considerably in that same regard iteration to iteration.

I want a worthy hockey game. I'd hope we all do. I adore hockey, and with my busy life, like yours, I want to sit down and enjoy living through this video game and experience mg favorite sport, not be frustrated and discouraged during my leisure time.

We live in an era where we can have a great hockey game, there are countless of past examples of better hockey games and much better games in different genres today. But there has to be a push to make it. I just wanted to facilate said push, and it starts by recognizing the faults of years prior and understanding that its gotten worse in most of those points of interest.

I'm willing to put effort forth in hopes of making this game better, are you?
