    NBA Live 09

I went back and played my copy of nba live 09 today. Such a great basketball game. I would like to see live bring some of these mechanics back. I really enjoy the open gym to start things off. would be cool to just start out messing around with your create a character in the open gym.

also the all star festivities are alot of fun. they need to bring them back.

The post game in 09 is very fun. I hope they can get it back to the way it use to play in live 17. I think the devs should go back and look at this title. lots of good stuff here to bring to the current gen live game.

I picked up NBA Live 10 for ps3 at gs for 99 cents.

I have not played it yet (again). I played it when it came out originally and enjoyed it.

I think alot of us would have been happier, if when we transitioned to next gen, that devs would have dragged the gameplay through first instead of wowing us with the graphics.

But it is what it is. And we can only keep pushing EA to focus on the shortcomings of the rejuvenated Live series.

Yeah live 09&10 were the best ever IMO. I wish EA would put the servers back up so we could play online. That was there biggest mistake, pulling the plug before 11 came out, which is why the game was forgotten about by anyone except true LIVE fans.

09&10 were definitely my Favorite... Till they killed the servers on 10, before having another game out, ugh.

This thread inspired me to buy a used PS3 last week from GameStop and pick up NBA Live 10, NCAA Basketball 10, and NCAA Basketball 09.

For last-generation games, these titles are still pretty damn good.

IMPROVING GAMEPLAY THROUGH SLIDERS: After going through old OP threads about sliders, I came up with a set of sliders that balances gameplay for all three games.

CUSTOM ROSTERS: Even though EA servers are offline for these games, you can still find custom classic and current rosters for all three titles on OP, download them to a USB stick, and upload them to your PS3. For example:
              • RayRay34 posted NBA Live 10 rosters for the 08-09, 09-10, 10-11, and 11-12 seasons here: http://bit.ly/1oYIblE
              • Lad35433 posted NCAA Basketball 10 rosters (with player names!) for 15-16 season here: http://bit.ly/1QcpO77
              • BigDoc85 posted NCAA Basketball 09 rosters (again, with player names!) for 08-09 season here: http://bit.ly/1Q6Gp8Q

While I still love 2K16 and Live 16 on PS4, no gonna lie: Live 10, as well as NCAA Basketball 09 and 10 are really damn fun, whatever their last-gen imperfections.

Can't wait til I get my copy of College Hoops 2K8 in the mail.

                Re: NBA Live 09

NBA Live 09 was fine, except for the defensive glue and the weird force-field around your player. But the signature animations were great, players models were pretty realistic, and I think it had the best graphics back then.

Anyway, I recently went back to play Live 2004. Live 2005 would be my favorite, but the only problem is that for some reason EA decided to destroy the running animation from 05 and on (on the PS2 and co. generation), which was probably their way to try slow the game down. Big mistake.

Live 2004 had some great animations and collisions, and with slider tweaks could give you a nice take on sim-style basketball. I decided to do what I like most here at OS, which is to go back and read old threads from around the time of pre and post-release of old games. So last week I was reading threads from around Sept. 2003 up to April 2004. It's so fun to go back and read these old posts by date, you can actually kind of "get ready" for a release of an old game (if that makes sense). Try it...

I found many guys here were extremely excited for the game, and for the most part that game was a huge success for many here, and I agree. I LOVED it back then. the 10-man Freestyle was a very nice addition. The freestyle dribbling system was fantastic, and the variety in animation was awesome! Also some players had signature accessories (Ben Wallace, Reggie Miller - for example).

How EA could go from those days of developing great and innovative basketball games, to what has been going on the last half decade+, is beyond me...

Agreed. Live 09 was by far my favorite Live game to date. I still haven't played a game with better pick and roll mechanics.

Yeah, I'm currently playing a dynasty in Live 04 on PC with this mod.

                    Good old retro fun.

Yeah, there are some very nice mods. I wish Live 2003 had sliders, as it always seems to me as the smoothest Live, but trying to play it realistically is like trying to tame a grizzly...

Amazing how well it holds up. It's not about realism , it was just a blast to play. We need that back again !
