I apologize if this has been asked before or it's explained in game, but I was wondering how significant are schemes? Does it actually have any affect in game? If I were to change a team from a West Coast offense and 3-4 defense to a Power Run offense and 4-3 defense, would I need to change the scheme and types of players I want for the team?

As far as I know, it effects players' ratings only. So if you have a 3-4 run stopper in a 4-3 pass rush scheme, in theory, he should be less effective.
