    Boxing Gloves/Heavy Bag/Mitts/etc

    Hey folks,

Trying a new topic to share how we use boxing in our fitness routines. We can share what gloves, wraps, and anything in between.

I know we may have some people that post that have actually boxed amateur and possibly pro; so there input is invaluable.

My current boxing routine and gear:

    Heavy Bag/Shadow boxing workout:
    -Box4Fitness Heavy Bag Workout (app)
    -Precision Striking (app)
**the apps call out combinations and give tips throughout

    Gear:
-Ringside Apex Bag Gloves (black & gold)
    -Everlast 180 wraps
    -Pro Impact 180 wraps

    Equipment:
-Heavy Bag (my Golds Gym has a dedicated section for boxing)

-Wavemaster XXL with scoring zones (home use)

My plans is to eventually upgrade to better gloves (have several on my Amazon wish list, lol).

Also, continue to improve my technique, footwork, and more.

Thanks for posting that! I've been looking everywhere for an app that will call out combinations.
I know that Tyson used to hit the bag while listening to a tape where Cus would call out numbers.

I don't know any of my equipment. It's pretty generic stuff.
I have a basic 100lb bag and very cheap, generic gloves.

      My routine has been:
      - Speed Bag
      - Skipping
      - Heavy bag
      - Burpees/Situps

I do that for four rounds and alternate burpees and situps every other round.

Amazon has a great selection of gloves (if you want to upgrade) let me know if you would like to see my list and I can screenshot it for you.

@Money99 the apps have some flexibility with minutes/rounds/rest period.

They're both amazing and keep my workouts on point. I'll post there icons:

Just upgraded my training gloves; I had a 25% coupon and couldn't resist:

These are considered one of the better Everlast glove alongside their MX line.

I have to say the "PowerLock Hook & Loop Training Gloves" are the real deal.

They are a solid and well made glove. After 50+ rounds of bag work, my hands feel amazing in these.

With my previous gloves, I had to ice and rest my hands in between sessions.

They feel snug at first, but after 10-20 rounds they just meld into your hands and feel just right.

Gloves: Ring To Cage C17 14-ounce training gloves (Best gloves I've owned. Only Tuf-Wear Super Bag Gloves have come close. Not a fan of most Title and Ringside gloves even though I love Title for everything else.)

Wraps: 180-inch Title Boxing Mexican style, wrapped over pieces of sponge across my knuckles for added protection

Heavy Bag: Aqua Training 70-pound water bag

Double End Bag: Title Classic leather

Speed Bag: Ring To Cage 8-inch leather

I start with a few minutes on the speed bag to warm up.

Then I do six three-minute rounds on the heavy bag with one minute of active rest between rounds. Try to throw close to 100 punches per round while practicing movement, feinting and good technique. I do sit-ups, crunches, neck work and medicine ball work during "active rest."

Then I do three three-minute rounds on the double-end bag, with one minute of "active rest" between rounds.

I finish with a few more minutes on the speed bag.

Superb workout. Love it. Not bad for this almost 51-year-old dude.

Thanks for the app tips. Always looking for tools to create an even better workout!

                      Re: Boxing Gloves/Heavy Bag/Mitts/etc

I love working the speed back - thinking about putting one in my garage, but worried it will be too loud and piss everyone in the vicinity off

I have an old pair of bag gloves that are falling apart now and a pair of MMA gloves. I like the mma gloves even for heavy bag but too often I'll skim my mid-knuckles on the bag and end up with cuts/burns so if I get another pair I'd try to find ones that totally or partially wrap down around the mid-knuckle if they even exist.

Boxing gloves I got a gift a long time ago but they are kind of useless. 14oz everlast gloves lol they're huge! I've actually boxed with them way back in the day during basement wars among friends - and worked the bag but they're just too big.

I saw a speed bag at winners for 50 bucks but I was hesitant.

Anyone mounted one? I think the key is that part because if the board moves at all it ruins it. I've seen improperly mounted ones in gyms that sway and are useless and also find many gyms have a speed bag or 2 but they are constantly flat/out of air.

At one point I got pretty good at it, and thought it would be a cool workout in the garage with some music and I find it fun and relaxing so it wouldn't even seem like a workout at all to me.
Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.

I used to train with non-branded gloves and bag mitts but my knuckles began to hurt. Then my trainer suggested that i should buy branded gloves and boxing accessories by Turnermax (a brand by Turner Sports UK). I ordered their boxing gloves in red colour and other related boxing material. I was gladly surprised by the durability of these items. My hand was secure with hand wraps and my knuckles were at ease.

A few questions regarding the brand and accessories:

*How much did the gloves cost?

                          *Are they leather gloves?

                          *How is the padding?

*You think they can handle a heavy puncher?

                          Thanks

I have bought these gloves from their website for £24.99. Shipping was totally free and these gloves were made of pure leather and thus more comfortable and more practical in the ring.

Here is a link to their site: http://www.turner-sports.co.uk/turne...6oz-3105-p.asp

Before ordering i read their blog and browsed through their website until i was satisfied.

They are 14 oz in weight and evenly padded. I really like them. They are my favourite. Plus my trainer likes them. They are good enough for sparring sessions and are super cool in the actual fight.

And there is no issue if you are heavy puncher. They can handle a lot of wear and tear.

Just got wind that a boxing gym may be opening in my home town.
Really excited about this. I'd love to get in a workout and some light sparring once a week.

Might have to start looking for some new gear. Definitely a face-saver.
