Defensive matchup help
 

Every time I go into coaching or defensive match ups before the game starts and make changes, the changes never save. For example I like to put Klay on Harden but the game always puts Barnes on him despite me changing it. Any help to stop this?

You have to turn off AI adjustments. I think it's in coach options. But when you turn that stuff off. You'll won't get adjustments for play calling.

If you changed the settings Jeebs mentioned above and it's still not working, try setting all 5 preferred matchups. This has happened to me before too and it's the only fix I found. So if you want Klay on a PG/SF, make sure to assign the rest of your matchups as well

You have to go to Coaches Settings and the very bottom row I believe is AI Defensive Changes. Set it to MANUAL instead of automatic.

i actually thought doing that works ALL the time. your "before the game starts" was when? - during or after the pre-game commentary by Shaq? doing so at "during" works for me (playing myleague offline). the other method i use in the middle of the game is call time-outs, then go to the matchups.
the above two are effective even with auto Ai coach enabled.
