People who play zone with Elite Tier 1 teams..

Sometimes I just have to shake my head, I know alot of zone killer plays (Horns Formation) and I have to ask if anyone play zone with tier 1 teams why do you play zone? Cavs/Warriors and Thunders have one of the best defense in the game so why don't you take advantage of man to man, play onball defense and if you get beat you have great help defense... Im talking about on GOAT rankings I still see people play zone, how does it benefits you in any way? Alot of good players know how to kill zone.

I also wonder why as well, considering zone kills stamina in this game.

I play zone for about 3-4 possessions in a game just to throw something different at my opponent to keep him guessing or to make him uncomfortable. It is definitely more fun playing vs a man to man defense, so I see why people get mad when people play zone. However, I do no think it is a cheese move. Zone defense is a part of basketball. But to see why others possibly play zone through the most part of the game is because some don't necessarily play team ball but focus on isolation ball. Zone defense is a good way to take away their opponents strengths.

But myself I stick to man to man because zone defense for a long period of time leaves the opportunity for a lot of open 3's.

I only play zone against teams with very few shooters. Crowd the paint and force them into jumpshots. Then when I see them getting a bit of a flow with their passes I'll switch back to man, and it usually throws them off

Zones are a part of basketball.

I know its a part of basketball but if someone is killing you like shooting 7/11 in 3's, shouldnt you go to man to man, or they what you to keep shooting 3's and just want to protect the paint?

It's the way they like to play. So what? Not everyone understands these concepts and is just more comfortable playing a different way. Let them be.

I might bust out a zone for maybe a quarter at most if I'm getting killed in man to man, just to throw out a different look. I'm not a big fan of it though.

Against a competent player zone sucks this year. It's amazing how most people online don't know how to beat it. I get excited when I play zone users because I know I'm going to be raining threes all game.

Yeah, especially when I use a tier 3 team, you really need a zone with the Cavs just to hang with me and the Suns?

I can't force people to not play zone, but I can rain threes on them until they realize they messed up. The key is to make a corner three right away on the first time they call a zone. They usually panic and abandon it so fast that way lol

This is the only opinion I don't believe in or agree with. It is part of basketball. But the amount of teams that play zone in the NBA are like 1 and a half. And I can't even tell you who that one team is.

But what I also don't agree with is that zone is to stop users from scoring in the paint. That's far from the truth. Most people always think open jump shots when they see zone. But I think the other way. Get it into the paint and then kick it out to shooters. People for get to attack the gaps in a zone.

Offensive rebounds... It doesn't matter if you have Double TT, Dennis Rodman, or Ben Wallace. You can't rebound well while playing zone because no one gets blocked out/boxed out. 2k did a great job of making this as true to real life as possible.

One of the other down falls of the zone is transition defense. In this below clip my opponent didn't change his defense until I told him that he was making it too easy. And that one of the others things was that his players were tried. LeBron James played one whole quarter (first) of zone defense. And didn't return until the third lol.

But basically the zone is to throw at your opponent to change it up. And 2k the Devs did a great job with that. Especially the getting tired thing. I know most don't agree with it. But I think it's the best thing the Devs could of done instead of watching teams play zone for the whole game. If your Europe league plays zone that's great. But in the NBA it doesn't happen.

If developers believe that zone is TOO op (like the 2-1-2 of past) etc, they should fix the gameplay. Spamming post play/inbound cheesing and spamming iso and P&R are also very powered. All these things can be countered (to an extend) by a zone defense. Many players can be perfect playing against man to man but chock against zone.

Breaking stamina is plain silly move by 2k.

Do not make any mistake. 2k didn't break stamina in zone to balance the game. Zone was not OP. If anything 3s go in to a much higher rate than they should

2k just as always want to favors the casual players who face difficulties scoring and just want to spam iso moves and DUNK.

Also you should't understimate european basketball.

At least in Europe we do not Hack-a-Sack.
Hey, that's an idea to implement in 2k17. Hack a Shaq as a valid defensive technique, with Tall guys trully hitting 30-40% from FT

Actually Europe they foul a lot to stop fast breaks. They also can knock the ball off the rim. Block balls on the glass. It's a totally different up bringing then my flash and cash childhood. Does Europe have clear path foul? Their lane (paint) is different right? Do they have defensive 3 seconds?

I still think "breaking" stamina was a good call. NBA doesn't play zone for long periods of time. If they didn't have it. What would happen? You'd see guys sitting there playing zone for the WHOLE GAME. That doesn't happen in the NBA. Good Job 2k. I don't even play in My Team. But I could imagine if they didn't all you'd see is users playing zone. That's what happen in the past 2k's. They removed those other zones because no teams ever use them.

I think the hack a who ever might get some serious looking into this off season. Unless the NBA comes up with rule.

It's not easy but you can control a iso heavy user.
