How do you turn off mic?

I am on PS4 and wondering if there is a way to permanently turn off the mic rather than having to do it each fight? Usually I don't mind but when there are kids around they don't need to hear some of the language being used........

If there is a way I would like to know, too. For now I start a private chat party whenever my kids are around or playing.

This isn't a real solution, but for the time being if you have a headset you could just use that. In your settings make it so only chat audio goes to headset, so you can just set headset somewhere and not hear it because only chat audio is going there.

If you aren't using headset I think you'd have to mute every opponent individually

when you start your ps4, create a party. No need to connect a mic. This will isolate your chat audio to nothing. It's the best solution for PS4.

The chat party works great....now my question is if guys turn on their mic to talk crap does it alert them that I cannot hear them or do they just spew their hate thinking I hear them? The same with messages.....I had to turn off my incoming messages because of the vile hate so now when they try to send me messages does it alert them that I do not accept incoming messages or do they go on believing I actually received it?

Since I started playing UFC 1 and 2. I have turned off messages, friend request and pretty much anything that has to do with contacting me.

I can't stand hate mail, If they win I get hate mail and if they lose I get more hate mail. It's a NO WIN, so I blocked everyone I don't know. Best thing I ever did.

it's the worst place on earth. I bought my PS4 close to launch, when either console was hard to find and I couldn't get an xbox one. I actually now have an xbox one, but I'm too invested in games/membership/accessories/content on playstation to switch platforms. But I wish I went xb1 from the beginning.
