Ripken, 93 Ozzie, Larkin or Crawford?

I haven't played with Ripken yet, the arm is enticing, but his reaction is suspect. Does the bat play up enough? I like an elite defensive shortstop.

I tried Simmons for a while but his bat was terrible and he made a few errant throws in the dirt. Almost seemed like his arm was too strong lol

Crawford gets to mostly everything and hit very well for me. Thinking of keeping him, but wondering if there are better options.

Haven't used the 93 Ozzie. Any analyzes on him?

Only used Larkin in BR and his defense was superb. Great range and arm. He made solid contact with doubles power.

I use Ripken, and he plays just fine at SS while hitting pretty dang good.

I'd suggest Manny Machado. He has great ratings, and the 5% drop in fielding won't be a big deal since his ratings are already all pretty high. Plus, he has a strong bat. I used the 87 version as a SS in BR and loved him there, so I'm guessing his 96 is even better.

I mean if you're doing fine with Crawford keep using him, but Ripken's reaction shouldn't be a problem I use Ernie Banks and he has the same reaction and is great.

I have Ripken but i never use him. I use Machado who is a beast.

Banks is also fairly cheap if you have a few cubs and do the conquest mission for the cubs admittedly he's not Crawford defensively but not a liability at all, but a much better bat,

I've loved ripken ever since i got him. He's been just about as good as Crawford on defense, great arm and has great power from the ss position

I got him. Only played one game thus far. The defense was as to be expected, but I'm not sure the upgrade is worth the drop off of offense. There's just no threat of any pop. The contact and vision are pluses, but Larkin made great solid contact and played very good on defense. I was surprised when I checked Larkin and realized he was 70's across the board for defense. Played more like 80's.

I'm thinking I'll grind for Larkin now and see if his bat and defense are as good as I think they are. If his defense plays above the 70's and the bat stays consistent I think he'll surpass Crawford as my regular.

For the OP, out of the suggested SS, I have only used Ozzie and Crawford, who are I do believe the two best defensive SS in the game stats wise. And the way Crawford plays defensively compared to Ozzie, you don't even notice a difference, and Crawford has the better arm. In my opinion he is a bargain at SS.
