re: NEW Madden 17 Tackle Battle Video
I love how they don't show the actual battle ahaha. I don't mind the whole tackle battle thing anyway, I wanted the ol' tap button to push defender back anyway, close enough. That little hop animation looked smooth -
re: NEW Madden 17 Tackle Battle Video
Yeah personally I'd rather have the button mash be the tackle battle, but that's just me......
Should be interesting, I'm not soured by this....http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

re: NEW Madden 17 Tackle Battle Video
Like how he's holding the ball.
RG is maybe the most interesting bit here, pulls left and thought he ran into the LT but seems to assist (can see the 'bending him backwards, digging in heels' animation after he engages). Wonder if that was intended to seal the edge or if he should have cleared the line and tried for a LB.
I've never once gotten benefit from the backjuke/hesitation, so honestly looking forward to some of these prompts to help change my own habits.Comment

re: NEW Madden 17 Tackle Battle Video
For those who didn't see the earlier tweet about this - the "tackle battle" is the last broken tackle in this clip (#92). Not the stuff before.
Still not passing judgement on this until I see it working with the button prompts. Maybe they're still working on the interface and that's why there's no video with the new prompts yet?Comment

I liked the hurdle. Not trying to read too much into it is interesting that it goes out of its way to not actually show the mechanic.Comment

After watching it a few more times it looks like Gurley doesn't even do a back juke.Like how he's holding the ball.

re: NEW Madden 17 Tackle Battle Video
Just noticed this too. He looks like he's supposed to be pulling around the edge but abandons that to head straight for his assignment which appears to be the linebacker just ends up running straight into the back of the tackle.RG is maybe the most interesting bit here, pulls left and thought he ran into the LT but seems to assist (can see the 'bending him backwards, digging in heels' animation after he engages). You're definitely not the only one bruh.
But agreed, instead of bashing, I'd rather take the wait and see approach. Rex and the squad has me cautiously optimistic.Always looking for solid CF25 Dynasty owners, follow the link to get started >> PS5 P5 Dynasty DiscordComment

re: NEW Madden 17 Tackle Battle Video
Personally I find the button mash to be the most tedious, pointless mechanic in video games. Not just sports video games. The analog stick swirl would be first but it's basically never used anymore (and it's a good thing because that actually ruined controllers (and thumbs/palms of hands!) back in the Mario Party days.
Given the choice between the two I'd much rather have a random, single button press than just mindlessly tapping the hell out of a button. Takes me completely out of the flow of a game when I have to shift all my focus to hammering on the controller.
I'm not a huge fan of QTE's either (especially when they're overused - and there is definitely the possibility of that happening with tackle battles), but again, I much prefer that to the alternative.Last edited by bcruise; 06-03-2016, 10:07 AM.Comment

I'd rather have neither and let the ratings play out, but if I had to choose I'd say button mash bc it's a better "simulation" of driving your legs to make or break a tackle.Personally I find the button mash to be the most tedious, pointless mechanic in video games.
