    Canadian Football 17

Just found out about this when searching for something on Twitter. Anybody hear of this yet?

Ha thats funny! I just found out about this game about 2 or 3 days ago and at that point they hadnt released any screenshots because they werent happy with how the crowd looked.

The guy making this, David Winter, has made a few other football games, but as far as i know, he made them all by himself without a team of developers. I have only played one of his other games, Maximum football which came out in about 2006. That game was a creators dream as you could literally custimize everything and anything, but the gameplay was terrible.

If he does get the CFL license, and he does have a team of developers this time, which I think he does, I think they are focusing more heavily on gameplay this time around, which would be a good thing. I love any kind of football, so I'll be happy to give this a try when it comes out.

I had great hopes for MaxFB, and agree with your assessment - there were great ideas for the game, but the execution didn't work. That said, this was the closest thing to Front Page Sports I have seen since that series died, so I will be in line to buy when he releases this.

I will buy this day one to show support for another football game. I played his previous game on PC. It had some of the best customization I have seen. Game was rough but really great considering he was the only one working on it.

Some of my favorite football sim memories (post FBPro 98) are from when the previous version of this game came out.

          That was a fun time...

They just posted a picture of it in action. I really like how the lighting looks (although it is a smaller picture). High hopes for this!

High hopes, yes, are gone. I like the arcade-style feel I get from watching the video, I would buy it for that alone. Really reminds me of Madden 10 for some reason. Also supporting Canuck for putting in all this effort.

I doubt I'll be supporting it. I don't really see anything here that says these guys can actually make anything that is worth spending money on or putting time into playing on my XB1. A game like this would be cool 10 years ago. But in 2016? Sorry, but you need to do better. I'd rather play titles like Casey Powell Lacrosse that are actually worthy of being XB1 games and show real promise of developing into something bigger.

It's also a really big red flag for me that sites like Operation Sports and Pasta Padre haven't shown any interest in this game, and Canuck Play told me that directly in a message on Facebook.

                    Looks like a PS1 game.

Nice to see another company trying, but 2k will be the only true competition.

Let's not turn this into that kind of thread.

I think, for a game that is considered "half way through developement", it is pretty promising.
Though I wouldn't have shown anything yet, especially not, when it is a sportsgame. People expect too much eyecandy at any point of developement, It's just that all those fancy assets come in later, when the focus shifted from working mechanics to feature completing and polishing.

David Winter burnt me on Maximum football, no thanks.

Genuine question: what about this is promising? The gameplay looks dated. I've never seen a game on this generation of system that is 8 months from going to production that looks this bad.
