Is there a way to 'Hack-a-Shaq' in 2K?

Obviously this can be frustrating in online, but is there a way to do this against the CPU and vice versa?

Would be a great strategy if used properly.

If they added Flagrant Fouls (that are beyond the control of the user), surely they can add this. I mean 2K is all about realism and simulation right?

I'm glad it's not in there. You have to foul the ball handler or you have to don't foul at all.

Though it would be nice, if you could foul the ballhandler consistently by pressing select and not just 1 out of 3 times...

2K should be able to do this just add another drop down menu on the touch pad on the (PS4) and from there select intentional foul (X, /\, [], O or L2) then you can click on who you want to foul.

It wouldn't matter if your opponent masters the release timing. I've had DJ and Dwight shoot a better percentage than my whole team. There should never be a perfect release on anything. This needs to change asap.

Considering they just adjusted the "Hack a Shaq" rule today, it might be too difficult to implement by the time the game goes gold in less than 2 months. It sounds like it might be a fairly difficult new rule to code in a video game imo, but I'm sure someone will vehemently disagree with me. There are a lot of variables/scenarios involved.

Considering they just adjusted the "Hack a Shaq" rule today, it might be too difficult to implement by the time the game goes gold in less than 2 months. It sounds like it might be a fairly difficult new rule to code in a video game imo, but I'm sure someone will vehemently disagree with me. There are a lot of variables/scenarios involved.

Forgive me for being naive but how is coding hack-a-shaq "difficult" if all it is, is intentionally fouling off the ball? I would think coding flagrant fouls should be a harder thing to do because of it's subjective nature.

All the NBA did was change the rule from being at the end of 4th quarters only to every quarter (last 2 minutes).

I think they should just get rid of the shot meter on free throws.

I have an easier time hitting free throws with Dwight than Curry because his release is easier to time on the shot meter.

That doesn't solve the issue of your opponent having the ability to use the shot meter.

I only play career, but even if there was it wouldn't work because free throws are just too successful on this game. Deandre must be a 90% free throw shooter in games against me for example.

That doesn't solve the issue of your opponent having the ability to use the shot meter.

I feel any online mode you play the shot meter should be off for both users, just enable shot timing and that's it. I know some people will disagree, but I'm just not a fan of the meter being available online.

I agree. I hate perfect releases more then the meter though. It would be nice if the perfect release was percentage capped at ft line.
