To me they are actually better suited to play a 3-4 based on the pieces that they have up front. Fowler definitely is a standup backer and Jackson is a 3-4 versatile end. Jack moves to inside and the rest is kind of plug and play. Some may not agree, but if I ran a Jags CFM I'm moving Ramsey to F/S and Gipson to S/S and moving on from Cyprien. Doing that gives you more flexibility in coverage. I tend to play a lot of one high and either of them should be adequate in covering quick underneath routes while the other patrols deep. The biggest decision you are going to have is figuring out what to do with T. Smith who is your best LB, but is not suited to play outside or inside in a 3-4. Trade for best value I suppose. Your definitely going to be looking for cheap quantity over good quality on D for a few years though.

How does the 3-4 work in this years game? Do the linemen get doubled/occupy o-linemen enabling blitzers to get through?

To me it plays a lot like the real life counter part. You see NT getting dbl'd pretty much every play. Depending on where your ends line up one of them can be as well. Playing with the raiders my LE is pretty much one on one with the guard in blitzing situations due to having Mack beside him. Most olbs will get picked up by tkls and most of the time the best one will get chip blocked by either the back or TE. I have seen more LB's and Db's come through clean because of this as well. I personally feel that they finally got it right this year. In saying that you will be gashed if you don't have the personnel to run it and LB's have to have decent block shedding or you will see them pushed back to where the safeties line up. Being a 3-4 guy I love it though because it adds more realism to the game. No more putting a NT in there that should be playing a 4-3 3tech and getting double digits sacks. Big Dan Williams ended up only having 30 tackles this year and 2.5 sacks, but I can tell you this its no way my defense would have been as good with out him in the middle of the line holding up a center and a guard every play.

See above. Forgot to add your post to the previous one. Apologies!

Awesome!!! That's great to hear. I may have to pick it up this year. I like the philosophy of the 3-4 and it makes it more interesting to play and playcall for, but it wasn't done well enough previously.

Absolutely right. It hasn't been done correctly since they implemented it, but this year just feels different. I have been loyal to it though because it has allowed me to get more speed on the field.
