Strategy play calling
I've noticed that strategy play calling is pretty messed up this year, mainly on defense. It suggests the same 3 plays constantly and almost always are blitz plays. Its a shame I can't use this because I try to play as close to sim as possible.Tags: None -
Re: Strategy play calling
Pretty sure It's based off how many stars you place on each play in a playbook.
You can adjust what plays you want to run in each situation, such as 2nd and short, 3rd and long, goal line, etc.
So if you haven't done that then your options are limited.
It takes alot of time to do, but if you mainly use the suggestions play call then it may be worthwhile.

No it´s not, it´s just a bug. i have been looking a possible soltion for this but nothing worked, i finally have up knowing that it´s just broken. Ihave been using strategy to call my plays on offense or defense but this year is worst than ever.
Basically the Strategy will recommend you to run the same 3 plays on 1st and 2nd and the same 3 on 3rd. For some reason the Strategy thinks that all teams run 1st and 2nd inside zone, so it will recommend those 3. Besides it doesn´t let you scroll There are only 3 plays. On offense and last year you were able to scroll.
Now, i thought the same as you, maybe the playbook is just messed up. so i went and change the rating stars and save a custom playbook. Now the system on strategy give you 0 plays. there are no strategy for this situation (it was a 1st down 3wr).

So basically on offense i´m still using strategy but on defense i have to call freely.
I remember before jumping to Ps4, they made the Gameplan, and spoke about how unrealistic it was the playcalling on madden etc. Since they the play calling took a downfall. The more and more it just seems they just throw a couple of plays in there and that it. You could even see if you look Gameplan from the custom playbook, how teams has like 5 or 6 Verticals. This is an area that EA doesn´t seem to care and like many people can witness it a HUGE part of the gameplay. No fun when the CPU doesn´t mix. Many of the playcalling issues is because there are no attention to Gameplan and plays from the Playbooks.
Sorry for the extended post. Congrats and thank you, if you read up to here.

Re: Strategy play calling
Dumb question time:
Can someone point me to where you can rate your playbook to add/subtract stars to each play? When I navigate to the playbook, it says that if I click on my playbook, I will lose all of my subs. Do you need to weigh all the plays first and then set your substitutes? Or am I looking in the wrong place?Comment

Re: Strategy play calling
Eh, that's how it's supposed to work, or so I've read, yeah, but after putting the extensive work in trying to prioritize/rank my entire playbook, I'm gonna say meh, not really.Comment

Re: Strategy play calling
I make some changes in my playbook before every game. It doesnt recommend them according to the stars but it does change which plays they call from game to game.Comment
