1995-96 Full Season Roster (2K17; PS4) - In Progress Thread

2K17 arrives in just over a week, so my months of fiddling around unsuccessfully with historic rosters for other sports are finally nearing an end. This year, I am planning to do a full roster for the 1995-96 season, including:

    * Full rosters for each team (no generic players) as of 03 November 1995

    * Accessories, signature shots, and the like as accurate as I can make them

    * Approximately 100 real-life free agents in the free agent pool, including guys who were actual free agents, very recently retired, or playing overseas as of the season start.

    * A full 1996 draft class available at the start, with at least 1 or 2 additional classes released over time.

I've done season rosters in each of the last two years (1991-92 and 1976-77, respectively), but I've never been totally satisfied with either the output or the time it's taken to finish it. This season, I have all the spreadsheets and notes required already finished, so I can hit the ground running on September 16. As always, anyone who wants to help is enormously welcome, and could definitely speed up the availability of the final set. I could particularly use somebody skilled at creating CAPs / assigning signature shots and moves, as well as somebody willing to play-test teams as they become available. I'll use this thread to post updates on the roster's progress as it develops; it helps keep me focused if I have somewhere to report results :-)

Very keen to check this out, always a sucker for season by season rosters

Also the new addition of being able to rebrand every team will bring more sense of authenticity to any season roster

Very much looking forward to this!

One comment I'd make it to set the rosters to match the start of the playoffs, great to go with the end of season rosters rather than start.

Gorgentj23 has made some great faces and uploaded on youtube the formulas..this may help with some of your caps. Can we edit the age of Legends this year? This was a great season in NBA. Can't wait for this roster.

Very nice man. Looking forward to it!

As VinnyVegas said Gorgentj23 has made some brilliant faces that you can find on youtube. You should take a look at them.
There are also some other great CAP makers around that have uploaded their creations. Youtube really offers quite a lot!

Already excited for your next/first update

I've been wondering the same thing. Last year I was planning on making an 02-03 roster (MyLEAGUE/MyGM ready with free agents and correct contracts) and I got super discouraged that we couldn't edit historic player ages since there are so many of them now that played in 02-03

Looking forward to this. As mentioned, being able to re-brand all teams will bring this to life.

I will probably do some court tutorials.

An inauspicious start. Picked up the game at lunchtime, installed it, got the Day One patch, settled in with a spreadsheet and a giant soda and finished half the 95-96 Sixers. Saved the roster, took a break to clean the kitchen. Came back, tried to load, "Content is Corrupted and Cannot be Loaded." Sigh.

Not good first impression. Hopefully that was a fluke

                    Do you use the
                    sonicmages-sportscrunch-ratings
                    for this roster?

If not you might wanna take a look.
Really good work and you can save some time to improve other parts of your roster

UPDATE:It appears the problem I encountered on my first run-through was a one-time glitch, as I have been editing and saving without difficulty all weekend. Lots of progress made over the weekend. I'm not going team-by-team this year; I'm finding it more efficient to work in a different order. So, I have already moved and edited all existing classic players onto the appropriate roster or free agent pool. Step 2 is to generate CAPs for everyone else, including the entire free agent pool and the 1996 draft class. I'm about 20 players deep so far into Step 2, but the TGor CAP tutorials linked above are AWESOME and making this part much quicker and much better!Step 3 will be tuning the ratings and tendencies, and Step 4 will be setting all of the rotations and other detail work. As always, help is appreciated. I am especially interested in help with accessories and signature shots, both my weak spots.

Hopefully you are also saving your roster to a thumbdrive as backup.

Yes, indeed.Much progress since last I posted. I finished the Pacers and Bulls off so I could run a test game (CPU vs. CPU). Final score was 115-96, Bulls. Game seemed to run pretty much realistically; when all five Bulls starters were on the court the Pacers struggled, then they would make progress with Jordan and Pippen on the bench. Steve Kerr went nuts in the fourth quarter and hit four threes and the Bulls pulled away. Reggie Miller led all scorers with 31.

Just in case anyone is following along: I've finished six teams so far: Bulls, Pacers, Celtics, Pistons, Magic, Knicks. Working from home today, so I'm running some test games while I work. The Pacers are beating the crap out of the Celtics as I type; it's 88-57, with four minutes left in the THIRD QUARTER. Boston has no answer for Reggie Miller and Rik Smits.
