Cpu defensive play calling must be broken.
I was up down by 17 with 3 minutes left. I'm the falcons against the saints. I have the ball at my own twenty. They run cover 1 press Julio of course burns the cb and scores a 80 yard td. I stop them get the ball back. They do the exact same thing. So now I'm down 3 points for 8 seconds left at my own 15. Guess what they run? Cover 1 press. Julio burns for him go ahead touchdown at scoring 3 tds in 3 minutes...... Why didn't the cpu just run prevent or quarters or something that is at least to stop big plays.

Yeah. I needed to win this game to make playoffs so I wonder if it did that on purpose.

Re: Cpu defensive play calling must be broken.
Sadly this is why I play my CFM offline. I give the CPU a custom 3-4 or 4-3 before the game to ensure they won't press me and get burned all game.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: Cpu defensive play calling must be broken.
I just torched Detroit for 192 yards with Alshon Jeffrey in the first half. I hate that it's so easy to beat, but I don't want to just not look in my best receiver's direction because the cpu can't call playsComment

If ur are on ps-4, grab my custom defensive pb. I spent hours on it and it improves the game a lot to me.Comment

Re: Cpu defensive play calling must be broken.
I've had to not call any fly routes in my CFM because it is way to easy for my WR to beat any corner. It sucks because I do love a good Play action bomb, but when I'm completing it 90 percent of the time it sucks the fun out of it.

Re: Cpu defensive play calling must be broken.
Yeah CPU play calling as a whole is pretty horrible. It's been touched on before, but in my experience they run the ball way too much. They'll be getting stuffed yet almost have a 2:1 run to pass ratio in some games.
Also, there's just no sense of urgency. Just played a game where at the end of the first half, the cpu had like almost a minute left trailing in the game, with decent field position. They ran 3 running plays and let the clock run out. Didn't call a single timeout or pass play. To me, on all Madden difficulty, this is embarrassing. This series has a long way to go in terms of cpu realism. I hate to play the 2k card and will refrain from doing so after this, but Madden is light years behind 2k in terms of advanced CPU AI. It's night and day.

Re: Cpu defensive play calling must be broken.
Yeah I use the 2nd controller trick to assign one of the generic playbooks to the CPU each game. (both an offensive and defensive PB)
It gives the CPU way better play calling.
Turn on a 2nd controller, use a guest profile, and assign the most applicable generic offensive and defensive playbook to the team you're playing. Then start the game and play the kickoff. After the kickoff move the 2nd controller back to the middle and turn it off. The CPU will use that playbook for the rest of the game.Comment

Re: Cpu defensive play calling must be broken.
Is there a thread or tutorial on how to do this? I hate how easy it is to beat the cpu all game with go routes
