there any point shooting with stick?
its almost impossible to pull the stick directly down when shooting off the dribble so you're almost guarenteed to miss most of the time, shooting with square/x doesnt have this issue. does the stick give you an increased chance of hitting the shot if you pull it off right?Tags: None -

If you practice and get good at it, sure. If not, use X.

Re: there any point shooting with stick?
I use square, but I think the stick gives you more control of the type of shot you want to do.
Floaters, baseline reverses, etc... seem to be easier with the stick. You could always use the stick for certain shots and the square for jump shots.Comment

Re: there any point shooting with stick?
Pull up jumpers are deadly with stick, just takes a little practice. I was skeptical at first, but i dont even need the button to shoot anymore. Opening up a face button gives the devs the opportunity to add more to the game. I wouldnt be suprised if that is the aim. It looks like they are trying to get away from the button.its almost impossible to pull the stick directly down when shooting off the dribble so you're almost guarenteed to miss most of the time, shooting with square/x doesnt have this issue. does the stick give you an increased chance of hitting the shot if you pull it off right?Psn: Alabamarob

Re: there any point shooting with stick?
That would be great if within a year or 2 it was nothing but the stick just so it'd be all skill based. That way people who weeks time finding the rigged green release jumpshots would still have to have skill to pull them offPull up jumpers are deadly with stick, just takes a little practice. Re: there any point shooting with stick?
everyone is talking about pushing the stick directly down when jumpshooting. Isn't it directly up (north)?

Re: there any point shooting with stick?
I like the shot meter on layups adds skill to making the difficult ones. I much rather have it based on my skill rather than luck... Otherwise it's just random hoping that the ball goes in.Originally posted by Khaos_KiwiI love using the shot stick - have since it was first implemented. However, with the new directional aiming aspect in 2k17, it's getting harder and harder to stick with it.
Firstly, using the shot stick you don't get that 1:1 responsiveness you do with the button press. This is because there is much less travel time.
Then on top of that, 2k now wants us to pull straight down as well! So just how I hold the controller it's almost been second nature to pull the stick on a slight down and left angle - that's just how it's comfortable for me.
Also, you add in those times where I will push the stick left or right for a driving layup only for my player to rise up for a jumper instead - which obviously is wildly inaccurate, just adds to the frustration.
On a similar subject, does anyone actually enjoy the new timing of layups? To me this is just another thing to worry about and another meter to look at rather than focusing on playing basketball.Comment

Straight up is for bank shots, straight down is if you don't want to bank it in -- except on the free throw line where you can do either or.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: there any point shooting with stick?
I personally find the shot stick to be reasonably easy to get right.
I've gotten into the habit of tilting my hand up slightly and holding my thumb exactly horizontal over the stick, so that when i push down on the stick, i don't get left-right variance.
Like this:

I only use it for uncontested shots though because sometimes i need that extra split second of responsiveness that only the shoot button gives youComment

im doing the same thing, only using the shot stick when uncontested, i dont see any other way of using it right now.Comment

Re: there any point shooting with stick?
When should bank shots be used? Am I at a disavantage if I only shoot regular jump shots? Is the percentage influenced?Making the jump to PES2020.Comment

Re: there any point shooting with stick?
Close to the rim, at angles around the free throw line area.
Or I'm assuming so because in real life its easier to make bank shots from those spotsComment
