Re: Anyone else hate substitutuons
Yeah, I'm not a fan. They made it overly complicated. Sometimes simple really is better.

Its so bad it should be patched. Horrible idea. Fast auto subs were a joy now its just a waste of time to make something worse.Comment

No i don't think so, and it's great and intuitive and sleek and fastest ever.Comment

Re: Anyone else hate substitutuons
Ok say you want to do an on the fly sub that puts your SG at PG and your backup SG at SG. How do you do that 2.5 seconds? Thats how fast it used to be. Now its faster to just press pause.Comment

Re: Anyone else hate substitutuons
I'm not a fan of the subs system since they changed from the dpad awhile back. That was so fast and easy compared to what we have now.
Particularly odd is that you use the Right Stick to make subs while playing and the Left Stick to make subs during time outs. Why not make it the same stick during both live action and during the timeouts?
Not to mention that during the timeout, you have to hit a trigger to get to the subs once you choose and can't put certain lineups in without manually adding everyone.
It's almost like they don't play the game using the same interface as us before they release it.
Otherwise, they'd know that once you hit square, you can't go back into the timeout. They'd know that some of the settings don't stay in force after the timeouts and more.
You think by now, we could set our own sub packages. It's PS4 after all.
You can't even set subs before a play with friends game it's so stupid.
It's crazy how they've just made things more difficult for no reason since 2K11.Last edited by Coach2K; 10-29-2016, 11:48 PM.For MyNBA, MyLeague & MyGM content, follow Coach2K on X by clicking here.

Re: Anyone else hate substitutuons
The conspiracy theorist in me says they broke this to force us to switch to MyPlayer modes to spend more VC. But it's probably more of the Mike Wang thinking he has to make a major change to something that didn't need fixing at all.Comment

Re: Anyone else hate substitutuons
Classic case of 2K fixing something that wasn't broken in first place. Worked as it was supposed on 2K15 and before so why not change it up to worse last year and even worse this year?Comment

Re: Anyone else hate substitutuons
My main problems with the subbing system:
1. After doing a "line substitution" between quarters (i.e. subbing in "Bench" between 1st and 2nd quarters), one cannot make any more changes until the next stoppage of play. So if one isn't happy with the CPU's determination of what your "Bench" or "Defense" unit should be, it's either substitute one-by-one, or substitute in the CPU's definition of a line and hope that there's a play stoppage soon, so you can get your correct lineup in. Or force your opponent to sit and twiddle thumbs while you use the pause menu to substitute.
2. No indication of fatigue/energy at all in the Timeout substitution display. The in-game menu has always annoyingly only given you an approximation, but at least there's that. There used to be indication of energy in the timeout sub menu in 2K16.
3. I think there's no indication of what position is being dealt with, only the default positions of the players in the lineup. So one has to memorize the layout of the chart.
4. The menu disappears too quickly if one is slow in making decisions. I would prefer no timer at all and have to back out manually, but if there is a timer, it should last for 1-3 more seconds.
5. It's still very annoying to deal with having accidentally put a player into the wrong position. I.e. If one puts Shaq in at PF and Horace Grant at C, but meant to do it the other way around, then one has to make THREE lineup changes instead of two: change Shaq to Player C, change Grant to Shaq, then change Player C to Grant.
And, of course, we really should be able to customize precisely what the line squads are for our lineups. Even or especially in MyTeam. There should be Team/Franchise management screens that allow us to designate what the "Bench" is, or "Defensive" or "Free Throw." If the lineup changes in a way that makes them invalidated, 2K can deal with that by wiping the slate clean and returning it to CPU's choice. But if we don't change a lineup in a way that impacts those lines, then they should remain in effect.
Or maybe have an in-game menu for it. Probably too much to make an opponent sit through during a pause, but at least we can customize squad rotations for when we play the CPU.Comment

Re: Anyone else hate substitutuons
I forgot what year it was, I remember when you use to call for subs during game play, the game would automatically switch to coach mode until you finished the making subs. So you don't get stuck standing around while you sub guys.Boy this habit is as bad as dope!!!

Re: Anyone else hate substitutuons
You sorta left out the main issue because its one player at a time I can't do my most common Trail Blazer sub. I never had to line sub because the system was fast.My main problems with the subbing system:

I can't sub Crabbe in and move CJ to point. I have to sub CJ out for Crabbe then sub then sub Lillard out for CJ ie making two subs. Likewise if I have Aminu at the 4 and Harkless at the 3 I can't sub Aminu for Turner and move Harkless to the 4, without putting them out of position or pausing. On the fly subs is broken. I can't do in 2k17 what it took me 2 seconds to do in 2k15 and before.
I implore you to patch in the old system.
Please or at least solve those issues because when I can't do two of my most basic and common subs without pausing there is no point in having on the fly subs, thus it is essentially broken.
