A note on this for those interested: This applies to the closest receiver to you, so make sure you practice with it to ensure you know what you're doing. In my view, the Madden AI still needs some work when plays break down. Also, it's tremendously effective when directing a RB who slips out of the backfield. With the receivers downfield, you can direct your back to green grass and dump the ball off.

The developers seem keen on not promoting it from interviews I've listened to. Apparently, players and coaches that have stopped by have expressed to them that this isn't realistic or something that teams do - which is why they have added a level of randomness to the direction the player runs after you direct them. It is probably kept in the game for the head to head crowd, and I would expect them to go away from it in the future (prediction).

That is odd, because im pretty sure ive seen qbs point guys in directions sometimes when on the run.
