    Dynamic Development Trait?

Just finished my first season and had a question about the dynamic development trait. They touted that in this years madden, a players development trait would go up a level based on awards and good performance.

I ask this because during my season, Derrick Henry had about 1,600 total yards and 17 TD's while winning ROY. After I advanced to the offseason, I noticed his development trait was still listed as Normal.

Has anyone actually seen an increase in their development trait based on performance? Really disappointed to see this not reflected in my franchise.

They said there's a chance it would go up. Not 100%.

My brother and I just finished our season and are currently in the offseason; he had David Bahktiari, J.C. Tretter, and Micah Hyde all get a development trait bump thanks to awards (Bahktiari and Tretter made the Pro Bowl, while Micah Hyde got defensive player of the week for Super Bowl week).

So yeah, dynamic dev trait does in fact happen, but it is not a guaranteed thing. I had Byron Jones win NFC DPOW during conference championship week and he did not get the bump.

Glad to hear that it is in the game. I guess I just got unlucky.

Direct quote from the blog post for this feature..

"Actually, any major season award and weekly award will have a chance of increasing it. What goes up must come down. Once a player fails to reach their season goals they have a chance of dropping down a development trait level. This fluidity makes sure the league is an organic system that reflects player performance."

Seems that it's not a for sure thing. possibility only.

Just finished up a season where Jordy and Cobb both missed 6+ games. So Adams had a big year and made the pro bowl. He got a development boost from normal to quick. When I go to progression history for him, it says his dev increased because of the pro bowl selection

I started a franchise with the Chiefs. Simmed the 1st season with injuries set to off. I had Zach Fulton as my backup center and long snapper. He SOMEHOW earned 39,000 xp and moved up to quick development.

I hired an unrestricted free agent running back with normal dev, and he ended up boosting to superstar after a monster season.

I think it would be great if there was a trait for the hurry up offense. Whether it be related to QBs or coaches. I'm tired of only seeing it run inside of two minutes.

in my Eagles first season Wentz and Ertz both made pro bowl and both went from normal to quick. I love how this year you can go to progression history and see what made everything happen.

I have noticed that alot of back up offensive lineman make the pro bowl. Regardless if they play or not

If you look at their progression, it'll say where all those xp came from. My guess is the pro bowl. I've noticed alot of backup o-lineman making the probowl for some odd reason

I had an older, second string HB move to quick after he filled in admirably for me when the starter missed most of the season. He was over 30 but moved to 'Quick' for the last few years of his career. Pretty cool.

I also had the same thing happen to a young LT - moved to Quick as a reflection of team rushing numbers and his starting most of the season for an injured player.

I really like this system for young QBs, however. I would like to see all these young studs who end up holding the clipboard for three years slip down to slow and then become redundant and replaceable b/c the next young superstar is coming along. If this works as imagined, it should offset that feeling of too many good young QBs in the draft. If there's no spot for them - then they lost superstar/quick status and become career back-ups. It might be a great system - we need to let it play out (and the rookies have to be rated low enough that they all aren't instant starters).

I had no idea this was in. Might save points now for end of year before I buy the trait in case it increases for them.

Does it only happen at years end? Because I'm sure I had Ogbah's dev trait go to quick at week 8 of the season
