Why do they keep removing features every year?

Last year I remember they removed the ability in the main menu to pick a favorite team and then play their next match up in real life.

Now it seems they removed the team news section entirely.

They also removed the practice mode.

Why do they keep taking things out?

No practice mode?? Is this confirmed for both PS4 (console) and PC versions? It really baffles me how a game that represents football will have no practice mode, smh

It's actually half the fun for me, trying out different tactics and approaches and such in a fully customizable practice setting. Used to spend hours with it in PES. Is there no practice mode inside the career mode as well?

sadly this is the case and it was the usual thing from EA to do, they announce something that was in their games years ago ... sometimes they dont bring the features back though which is even worse

Since they like removing features and modes to then add them back a few years later why don't they do that with FUT?

Why do they keep taking things out?

This is just me, but I would think that because these games are not limitless and are taking up more and more memory/space i.e. "The Journey", that sacrifices have to be made.

You can go to 'kick-off' and the matchup selected is your favorite team's next match. For example, on my screen it shows ARS v BUR which is their match this weekend.

Yeah I really miss the weekly highlights mode.

6 matches from around the world. The scenarios in the match could be in be a pro format, last 10 minutes of a match, the whole second half, whole match, etc.

Anything EA could think of, I thought some of them were really creative and it was a great way to earn FCC and also be introduced to leagues or teams you would not normally use.

Practice match absence is just bizarre. I will write it again, is this the only sports game that does not have a team practice mode?

The news mode was awesome in FIFA 15. You could zip around the leagues and pick any team and see at least a little news and their upcoming match was available to jump right into. For someone interested in the entire sport and all leagues this was incredible. I could go peruse news in bundesliga 2 and find some nice looking matchup I probably would not have chosen on my own and start playing.

This year is the most barebones it's been in awhile.

The options boil down to FUT, CM, kickoff and tourney.

They pulled that off with NHL 17 and calling "World Cup of Hockey" "first time ever in NHL history" as a brand new feature when it was a feature in NHL 05.

To point one, seems like they streamlined it from comments above.

To the other points, they likely have statistics that shows what is used most and least often and cuts things out from there to add new things. Remember a Bluray only holds 50 GB max and FIFA 17 clocks in at 40. So they have to streamline as much as possible while still having something new as a promotional tool.

are you guys absolutely positive there is no practice mode? I always complained that it did not allow you to change the camera in practice mode to same in game camera you use... but to take it out completely would be uncalled for

this has been in every fifa for awhile now... are you guys sure?

to be honest though this isn't that big of a deal to me because last year i figured out a better way to practice moves and what not... since you can't change your camera in the practice arena I instead start a match with the easiest difficulty against ones of the weakest teams and do my practice moves and everything vs them as you have all time on the ball can practice all your moves or whatever you might want to do and it's in game situation against Lazy Dumb AI .... and best of all.. it's with your game camera your use to.... this is the best way to practice moves and what not in fifa

I dunno, for one thing how would they know what is being used and what's not being used if FIFA never had some of those features to begin with?

Take a FULL PRACTICE MODE for example. I know PES doesn't have all the licensing and the glitz and glamour of FIFA, but at least we have a practice mode in PES! Only the PC version of FIFA has it so we know it's already there. I don't think it would require that much extra disc space to add it really...
