I really dislike the forced post up animation
It may not be important or big thing that needs addressing but it annoys me when the defense can force my player to turn around and put his back towards them and post them up, I'm not pressing the post up button so why am I being forced into a post up animation. I must of missed the jedi mind trick rating "You will post me up. I will post you up.".Tags: None -
Re: I really dislike the forced post up animation
It's probably the worst part of the game and it needs to be fixed. No idea how it went live.
Imagine if 2K's interpretation of physics actually applied to real life and other sports. Football would be the absolute worst. Actually it wouldn't even be a sport. I don't think it could be. Neither could hockey, or soccer or rugby.
We could still maybe see some baseball being played. Haha, I can picture someone running into second base trying to beat a throw and then going butt first into the second baseman and posting him up. Yeah...no baseball either =(
I could do this all night.
Forced physicality and body up/post up animations are bad. -
Re: I really dislike the forced post up animation
I've gotten 3 seconds in the paint calls because of this indeed. Although it kind of makes sense sometimes that to prevent someone from getting closer you block their path through post up. But it shouldn't be forced. There is I believe a command to disengage but don't remember.

Re: I really dislike the forced post up animation
Yeah there is all I can say is its annoying to have your guy do something that is a specific animation that there is controls for when you didn't press those controls. Its one thing with random contact animations but an entire turn your back to the defender animation and post up when im not even pressing L2, I don't know I guess its just a pet peeve but I wish some other animation played out in these off ball contact situationsI've gotten 3 seconds in the paint calls because of this indeed. Re: I really dislike the forced post up animation
A very valid complaint. If I don't press the button to do something I should not be doing it. These are the kind of legacy things that have held 2K back for years. The feeling that you're not in control of what's happening.
The other thing is your player jumping to wrap up/contest a shot in the paint (always resulting in a foul) when all I'm doing is holding L2.

Re: I really dislike the forced post up animation
Yeah, but this has other benefits like protecting the ball.
Players don't justr dribble inside the paint
I agree that players should not go in automatic "protect the ball" stance, but you should lose the ball more when crowdedComment

Im talking off ball when you dont even have the basketball and a defender touches you and some how forces you to turn around and post them up.Comment

Re: I really dislike the forced post up animation
What? You guys don't like getting stuck in an animation and get called for 3 seconds?
I really hate that.....it's not like I'm hugging my opponent. I shouldn't be stuck to the guy if I'm just elbowing him on the back. As soon as I move my stick I should be off my guy. I'm sure many bigs feel the same way since it takes some bigs a half second to turn around.Comment

Re: I really dislike the forced post up animation
To me, the problem is not the animation so much as it seems like something a defender might actually do; the problem is once the cpu initiates the forced post animation it feels like you cannot escape the animation, it is like you are superglued to the defender until he decides to let you go.Comment

Re: I really dislike the forced post up animation
Also, it'd be much harder to hold your ground as a defender if you couldn't impede the offensive player's progress. Then they could pretty much just walk you under the basket, and you'd be powerless to stop it. So there's definitely a need for this to be in the game.To me, the problem is not the animation so much as it seems like something a defender might actually do; the problem is once the cpu initiates the forced post animation it feels like you cannot escape the animation, it is like you are superglued to the defender until he decides to let you go.
BUT ... I agree that you need to be able to break out of it much easier as an offensive player. I get it if you continue pressing the left stick toward the defender why you wouldn't be able to break out of the animation, but why does it happen when I'm pressing the left stick in the opposite direction? I'm clearly trying to get away at that point but continue to be super glued to the defender. That's where I have a complaint about it.Comment

Re: I really dislike the forced post up animation
Exactly, there are times where I am desparately pushing the stick away from the defender, away at an angle, tapping turbo, etc. in an effort to avoid an offensive 3 second call, and my player simply will not disengage from the forced post up.Also, it'd be much harder to hold your ground as a defender if you couldn't impede the offensive player's progress. This is made more frustrating when I try to post the CPU on defense and it seems to be able to disengage at will, and at times they will also simply refuse to even be posted up at all.Comment

Re: I really dislike the forced post up animation
I get what your saying but theres no way you should be able to just reach out touch a player and force them to turn around press their back up against you and engage you in the post, posting up is with out a doubt is a thing that is 100% at the free will of the offensive player. As the offensive player I can choose to stand and just look you face to face now the defender can choose to try to impede you and make it hard for you but he cant decide "you know what I'm going to flip this guy around and force him to engage me in a post up scenario"Exactly, there are times where I am desparately pushing the stick away from the defender, away at an angle, tapping turbo, etc. in an effort to avoid an offensive 3 second call, and my player simply will not disengage from the forced post up.

That I can agree with as being a little weird; if you literally turn around and back into the defender that should be your choice.I get what your saying but theres no way you should be able to just reach out touch a player and force them to turn around press their back up against you and engage you in the post, posting up is with out a doubt is a thing that is 100% at the free will of the offensive player. The other sort of situation where the offensive player already has his back to the basket to receive a pass or whatever and the defender comes up and leans into his back to defend him should be possible though.Comment

I agree there and to your point earlier where you cant disengage and you feel stuck to the defender only exacerbates the problem. That I can agree with as being a little weird; if you literally turn around and back into the defender that should be your choice.
