Guide to scouting in MyLeague?
I'm playing a MyLeague as the Bulls and we have the 18th pick in the draft, but I don't have any clue who or what I should be scouting? I feel like I just pick random positions and players who might be at number 18 but when the draft comes I don't have any good scouting reports on anyone so I just end up drafting whoever is the best.

Hire the best scout available, set to auto, then go from there based on need -
Re: Guide to scouting in MyLeague?
Yeah, but I want to learn how to do it myself. Even if I automate it I don't really know what to do about the info I'm given, since noone gets scouted even close to 100%.What we know so far about NBA 2K14 - FAQ/QA:

Re: Guide to scouting in MyLeague?
I pick players manually. Because if I put to scout positions, sleepers I never get close to 100%. Hire the best scout and then pick players from the big board or mock draft close to your finishing position. You have to scout all season long to get 100%. Scout the same player couple times untill he is scouted to 100%. Basiclly scout the same player untill you get his potential grade. I'm not sure but I think you can scout 10-15 players in a season to 100% this way.
FYI this is from 2k16. I haven't started MyLeague in 2k17 yet. Waiting for the patch. But the scouting should be the same.Comment

Re: Guide to scouting in MyLeague?
I've always used the grades section on the player card. It should give you enough information to make a decision such as perimeter D, shooting, post up etc. It gives you positional averages and where this rookie is compared to that avg, through that I find positional needs if I'm not drafting a generational type player. If I have terrible/average rebounding big's, I'll look for an athletic rim protector/rebounder some one I know I can give small minutes too early while I develop his post up/offense throughout the season.Comment

Re: Guide to scouting in MyLeague?
use the mock drafts, scout players +/- 5 spots from where you are expecting to pick.
alternatively if you are going to be a lottery team scout the top players, if youre going to make the playoffs start scouting a position you are going to need, IE target all the SF's regardless of projected draft position.Comment

Re: Guide to scouting in MyLeague?
In previous titles, I used to play a scrimmage in the draft combine and draft players based on the feel of a specific player. For example, if I didn't like the timing or form of their jumpshot with my own play style then I would avoid them.Comment

Re: Guide to scouting in MyLeague?
I always look at the potential and the current need of my team. If i lack depth in a certain position, then i scout that position until i found the best fit for the team im using.
For auto generated classes, i dont spend too much scouting in the 2nd round though. There is less likely a surprise gem there

Re: Guide to scouting in MyLeague?
How can you scout a player individually? How can i assign my scout to a certain player? (Nba2k16)
I can open up the player card with all the different pages. But i don't find a way to assign my scout to this exact player. So i often end up after the season with a lot of guys in the first round that aren't scouted 100%Comment

Thanks for this. That’s a good tip I’ll use moving forward.I've always used the grades section on the player card. Re: Guide to scouting in MyLeague?
LOL, yeah, thats the tricky one. I watch a lot of college basketball, so kind of hard to play dumb when using real DC's. I typically dont finish the 1st season till after the draft, so I draft how things go IRL. Then the ML, that I use fake DC's, I let the cards fall where they may. I use to get to OCD about having to have real DC, and all real players, but I decided this yr, Im going to try and get over my OCD issue, with realistic DC, and just try to enjoy the game for what it is, because NBA2k18, all in all is a darn good game, only thing that reall bothers me, is the lack of shooting fouls on 3pt attempts. I can live with a few of the other things, but the lack of fouls on 3pt attempts is drives me crazy
