Reclaiming The Crown: An LA Lakers 2K17 Dynasty

Reclaiming The Crown: An LA Lakers 2K17 Dynasty

Hello, and welcome to Reclaiming The Crown: An LA Lakers 2K17 Dynasty. This dynasty will follow the rebuilding Los Angeles Lakers, on their quest to (hopefully) become the face of the NBA once more in the post-Kobe Bryant era.

I have dabbled with dynasties here and there, but have never got very far with them. With this dynasty, I'm hopeful I can complete several seasons, hopefully at least 10, to make it truly unique.

I aim to tell a story through this dynasty. I will be making up some storylines and putting them in the game where possible, such as career-ending injuries, or off-court scandals. I also aim to make this dynasty as realistic as possible regarding trades, player movements, results and my overall reporting style, to make it feel as if you were reading an article about the real NBA.

Enough about that though, down below are the rules and all other pertinent information regarding the MyLeague save.

                        Warriors Top Pre-Season Power Rankings

Well, it's that time of year again. The new NBA season is just a bit over a week away, and after the completion of the pre-season, we all have a fair idea of how teams are playing with their new additions. Which means it's the perfect time for the season's first set of Power Rankings.

As you might expect, the Warriors, with their star acquisition in the form of Kevin Durant, are holding onto the number one spot. What is surprising however, is the fact that the 76ers aren't starting out in 30th place for once.

As these are the Pre-Season Power Rankings, most of these are complete estimates, so take these with a grain of salt, and wait for the next set to truly see how your team ranks among the rest of the league.

NBA.com's Power Rankings, released every Monday during the season, are just one man's opinion. If you have an issue with the rankings, or have a question or comment for John Schuhmann, send him an e-mail or contact him via Twitter.

Walton grabs first win for Lakers, beating Rockets 107-98

                          October 26, 2016 | by Casey Holdah

LOS ANGELES - The Lakers have begun the post-Kobe Bryant era with a 107-98 win over the Houston Rockets, under the guise of new head coach, Luke Walton.

This win marks the Lakers first Opening Night win since the 2013-14 NBA season, in which they beat the Clippers 116-103, and where Xavier Henry scored a team-high 22 points.

Times have changed a lot since then. The only player on the roster from that season who still plays for the Purple and Gold is Nick Young, quite a surprising fact.

D'Angelo Russell top scored for the Lakers last night, posting 24 points on an efficient 9-15 from the field, along with 7 assists, albeit committing 4 turnovers during the game. Another performance that caught the eyes of Laker fans was Brandon Ingram. The rookie out of Duke was very impressive in his debut game, scoring 15 points, shooting 6-10 from the floor. Ingram went to work early, hitting a shimmy fadeaway over the outstretched arm of Trevor Ariza for his first points in the NBA in the first quarter.

On the other side of the coin, the Rockets weren't pushovers, as the score may suggest. Houston had a 29-23 lead at quarter time, and a 52-48 lead at the half, with Harden dishing out 6 assists in that time in his first game at PG. Harden did cool off in the second, finishing with 25 and 7, and shooting 3-8 from three-point land. Harden also didn't attempt a single free throw this game, his first since January of 2015, breaking his streak of 132 straight games with a made free throw.

This game was decided by the play of the bigmen however, with Mozgov and Randle combining for 22 rebounds, and Clint Capela grabbing 14 on his own. The Lakers dominated Houston on the glass, outrebounding them 55-42. This stat wasn't helped by the dismal shooting of the Rockets in the fourth. They managed to shoot a combined 9-26 from the field, or 35%. The Lakers only had a 3 point lead after the third, but it only got bigger after that.

Luke Walton was visibly excited after the final horn sounded. "After all the hard work we've put into the pre-season, putting these guys through gruelling camps, and teaching them a system they're not used to, it's extremely rewarding to see it pay off in that first game." D'Angelo Russell was also thrilled with the win, but it wasn't all smiles: "We didn't execute as well as we could have out there, me in particular. I mean, we were lucky that they had some streaky shooting in the fourth, and couldn't capitalise on our late turnovers."

Los Angeles face Utah in Salt Lake City up next, with Houston heading back to Texas to face Dallas at the American Airlines Center.

Around the Association: Week 1 of the 2016-17 NBA Season

By Dan Favale, Featured Columnist __Nov 3, 2016

So, the first week of the 2016-17 NBA is officially over. In just seven days, some of the performances and results in the league have been astounding:

As we all expected, Russell Westbrook has come out of the gate firing. He has dropped 3 consecutive triple-doubles to start the season off, to go along with scoring 40 points in the season opener against Philadelphia. While the stats may be impressive, the scary thing to note is that Westbrook is averaging a whopping 42.3 minutes, and it's not even November yet.

The Kings are currently 5-0. You read that right, the Sacramento Kings have started the season undefeated. I don't know what David Joerger has done over there, but it's nothing short of a miracle. DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay and Ty Lawson are all averaging over 18 points a game. Lawson is the most surprising out of that group. Most thought he'd be done after his running ins with the law while at Houston, but the Kings took a chance on him, and boy has it worked out.

Other than Curry's 41 and 10 against the Spurs in the season opener, or Lillard's 43 in a loss against Golden State, the most surprising statline of this week has been DeAndre Jordan's monster 18 point and 26 rebound performance against Phoenix, 5 rebounds short of the Clippers franchise record. Jordan grabbed almost half of the Clippers rebounds for the game. Unreal.

Paul Millsap is currently averaging a repulsive 5.3 fouls per game. Millsap collected 5 fouls in both games against Washington and Philadelphia, and then fouled out in only 20 minutes two days later against the Kings. A very disappointing start to the season for Paul.

Trade rumours have been floating about regarding young Brooklyn duo Anthony Bennett and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. The Nets need all the young talent they can acquire, so sending off two of their youngest players seems like a bad idea. The 21 year-old Hollis-Jefferson is currently averaging 10 points and 8 rebounds off the bench, while Bennett has not played a minute this season.
