Do people miss the OLD 2k before the Badges?
I feel like since the introductions of badges, the game has gone downhill in the online department. badges have a higher effect on gameplay than actual human skill at somepoints and seems to serve as a bailout to do stupid**** .

Said it a while back. 2K used to be about signature styles, not badges. We're moving further and further downhill towards NBA Live 07

Old 2K as in NBA 2K11? Yep, first with the nostalgic plug, lol.I feel like since the introductions of badges, the game has gone downhill in the online department. badges have a higher effect on gameplay than actual human skill at somepoints and seems to serve as a bailout to do stupid**** .

On the real, I've been complaining about badges, since they were introduced. I REALLY hated them when the Pacers were THE number 1 defensive team during the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons. At one point during the 2013-2014 season, they were the best defensive team in NBA history. What was the point of playing with a top defensive team when there was so many offensive badges that nullified or overpowered the defensive badges? The moment they added badges to the game, stick skills became unimportant.
That's why GSW is such a difficult team to beat in PNO. With all their badges stacking on offense, the players can play well above their shooting ratings regardless of the defense.Comment

Yes. Now instead of actually getting better at the game everyone is now just "grinding for badges."Comment

I loved the original thinking behind badges...but it's gotten to be too much...more 'gamey' than basketball driven..Comment

I was fine with Sig skills and being limited to only 7 TOTAL. Haven't liked the badge system at all, especially with being able to get so many on one player.Comment

Re: Do people miss the OLD 2k before the Badges?
Whoevers idea it was should be demoted or fired. Its an archaic feature.
By now each notable player should move just like rheir real life counterparts and have dedicated styles, screw an arcade boost.Last edited by Optimus James; 11-25-2016, 05:16 PM.Comment

Re: Do people miss the OLD 2k before the Badges?
so speaking strictly offline, would people agree it's a better game if we remove badges? I remember seeing a thread discussing editing the rosters to remove all badges and then it kinda got dropped in the talk of defensive issues, shooting, and patches.Comment

Re: Do people miss the OLD 2k before the Badges?
Yes hell yes.
Damn Aron Baynes is playing like prime Ewing in this game because of his stupid ratings and badges. Dude averages less than 5 rebounds a game but on this game his rebound rating is an A. Never misses a mid-range shot. Always dropping a double double. What?
Aaron Brooks is candidate for 6th man of the year the way the AI plays with him.
Miles Plumlee is beasting on the boards but he averages 2 rebounds a game this season but on 2K his rebound grade is A.
It's ridiculous. I shouldn't be getting crossed up by Jason old *** Terry or he shouldn't be blowing by me.
None of the badges make sense. The ratings are overrated. Like people used to joke about in the past about Austin Rivers or Gerald Green being 2K legends because you can beast with them but they don't play like that in real life. It's irritating.
I do agree with this game is basically spend money and grind, so you can get hall of fame badges. It's not based on any skill. You're buying your way to greatness. Chuck n' cheese is what it should be called.Comment

Re: Do people miss the OLD 2k before the Badges?
I read that thread, and IIRC most people swore by it. I play PNO mode, so I'm kinda stuck. What they really needed to do was just add more ratings where the rating would activate for that shot selection. The best example would be to add a rating for corner 3's.Comment

Ah, Gerald Green...good times. That dude was quickest 10+ points scorer that I ever used off the bench when he used to play for the Pacers, lol. Did he even have badges? I don't remember. I believe Gerald Green was more an example of a player who could play above his ratings due to physical ratings and shot release.Yes hell yes.

Re: Do people miss the OLD 2k before the Badges?
One of the biggest problems with the series now is that there are just too many moving parts, and I think badges have a lot to do with it. Obviously we would like the game to evolve and expand, but it just hasn't proven to be a good thing yet. This is obvious when they fix one thing and it breaks another. There have been patches and tuning updates, yet the balance still isn't there, and I think it's because there are a lot of unintended results from the constant tuning. There's a reason why so many feel like the game plays so differently from week to week.
This game is too complex for it's own good. I have always been a huge 2k fan, but since the jump to this gen I have been saying that 2k has been overambitious. It is, arguably, the deepest sports game ever created. Is that necessarily a good thing? I don't know.Comment

Yes.
I do not mind badges at all but the Hall of Fame and Grand badge is too much. Should just keep it at Gold,Silver,BronzeComment
