RTTF/RTTAG qualification is a complete joke

Cmon 2k...why even start the qualifying rounds knowing PRO-AM is still broken? It's make no sense. Qualifying comes down to pure luck of the draw...it's worse than last year. You have to pray you don't lagout and pray you don't play against comp to even have a slight chance of qualifying. We didn't play 1 5v5 game today. The very first matchup was against Effortless Talent (#1 team on Xbox) which was a 2v3. We got the W but only got 700 points for the game. The game that knocked us out was 1v5. Do better SMH.

2K should have postponed this event given the dysfunctional and unreliable state of their servers since Christmas.

Especially since that stupid scoring system 2K insists on using is dependent on the amount of CPU players that are in a game at the moment it finishes. Every AI player that's on the court takes away from your potential point total.

The servers don't bother me as its was expected that they would be terrible but I'm so disappointed they blew the qualifier yet again with this bogus scoring system that is pretty dependent of how often u can draw a trash team that won't quit on you when you blow them out by 50. The fact that playing a team of like 3 guys all 55 ovr gives u more points than beating a top ranked team is sad and 2k needs to be ashamed they thought even for a moment it was a good idea to implement the system like that

I still think humans need to be involved, but it's really hard to figure out how they would make that work. I mean, it seems like it would take a lot of people to pull it off, but I really wish they could have some people who watched some games each night... and chose who qualified, or at least put them into a bigger pool.

Obviously, there are a lot of teams, but most are trash. It would be arbitrary, but they could weed out people who might be trying to game the system to qualify, and weed out people who weren't any fun to watch (people who do the same thing over and over, etc.) Could also have a few fan choices.

If they qualified you on mastery of the game opposed to record/pointspread whatever they do... it might actually lead to better e-sports. Not saying don't pick people who aren't so good at the game that they look cheesy, but not pick the people who all play the freaking same w/ the same team composition.

But I'm pretty sure it would be more work than it's probably worth...

They should've made it so that you had to be at least Elite 4 to enter the qualifiers.

That way it would've weeded out all of the scrubby teams and it would've meant that the top echelon of teams would've been competing against each other to qualify.

Having all elites being able to enter the qualifiers makes the whole thing a lottery.

The scoring system is good. The servers were the problem.

So...what would you do to improve the system? You've written out the issues but have offered no solutions or ideas in how to fix it (whether your idea is simple or complicated).

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I kind of agree but think the cutoff should be elite 3 or 2. lots of teams getting screwed by disconnects left and right

This may not be on topic but the tournament doesn't mean much too me. There are too many odd things for my liking and the chances of winning are like playing the lottery.
Add in the cheese, lag, cheating that I'm sure will occur, and a host of other things and it just doesn't appeal to me.

But, what I would like to see is a MyLeague type pro am or at least an option for some sort of season.

Let me start a MyLeague type league/season where every player has the potential to be a human.

I could go into detail, but I'd need to create a new thread!

Obviously the most simple solution would be to fix the lagout issue in pro-Am. It's been a problem for quite some time now and 2k knows it. It's not rocket science. I preferably would've rather seen the top 16 (maybe 32) teams battle it out in a best of 3 format for a chance to compete for 250k in New Orleans. I know some would think this is unfair but you gotta put the work in to compete. On top of that the top 16 squads didn't really shift much on Xbox 1 at all so it somewhat makes sense IMO.

The current setup is truly all about playing scrubs for 5 hours. It was like that last year as well but 1 loss didn't disqualify you for the weekend nor were lagouts an issue. With the small window of playing time you cannot afford to lagout or it's game over. Regardless if you win or not you still won't get the max amount of points needed to climb the ranks. I still like my squad chances of qualifying but 2k needs to put their thinking caps on for future tourneys. The system needs to change a bit.

                      1) Don't hold a qualifying event until your servers are stable and reliable enough that people won't be consistently lagging out of games. Team arena and walk on have both been dysfunctional since Christmas. I'm sure 2K is aware of that, but they chose to run their event anyway instead of doing the right thing and postponing it.

                      2) Once the servers are ready, reset the Pro Am team arena leaderboards and give everyone 30 days to reach elite 2 status. Teams that reach elite 2 before midnight of day 30 will qualify for a single-elimination knockout tournament, which will be seeded according to the time that each time qualified -- the sooner you qualify, the better your seed. If an odd number of teams qualify, then the last two teams to make it to elite 2 will have a play-in game to see who gets the final spot. If an even number of teams qualify, then no play-in game is needed.

This system lets teams get in their games whenever they can instead of forcing people to take off work and forego lunch to play a marathon session of 2K at a specific time on a specific date. It also reduces the amount of server stress since people aren't logging on simultaneously to play the same game mode.

Bigs can cover to much ground on defense(they are too fast)

Late contest on laups matter too much.
