Right Stick Steal needs to be removed
I got graded out of game because I got the ball ripped from me for 7 TO in 2 minutes in the beginning of a game. I asked the guy how he was able to rip me so often and he told me about spamming the right stick for steals. I tested this out yesterday and had 3 games with 10+ steals in Walkon. The boost needs to lowered when using the right stick.Tags: None -

Nah, you get punished for swiping the wrong way.
It's the only way I steal from people with obvious dribble-moves especially against play-makers who always spam the same move.Comment

It's even more extreme in the paint. It throws you immediately into 2ks wonderful animations with nothing that you can do about it.
Mainly, anywhere on the court, if someone spams the right stick as soon as you catch the ball, you will either loose the ball or get thrown into an animation.
This is what people call steal spamming and most think it is the X or square button that people are spamming.
I used to think this and wonder why it never worked for me. Then I tried the right stick and bingo.
It's a huge problem, but the bigger problem is that 2k hasn't fixed it yet or addressed any of the other major issues.
This combined with their total lack of communication is why people are looking forward to the release of NBA Live.
Really, people are looking forward to Live, myself included. Just hoping for something closer to basketball without so many exploits.
It's an extreme stretch to think that EA can finally produce a decent basketball game, but I hope that they can.Comment

Theres a thread for thoughts on communication, and there is an NBA Live forum to express your interest in that game. Lets not derail the thread or any other thread with this stuff.
On topic.
This must be a Pro Am thing. Every steal in PNO seems to be a reaching foul. It feels like the modes are on two different sets of sliders.Comment

Re: Right Stick Steal needs to be removed
In MyTeam Online, Difficulty gets as low as Pro and at Pro, it's totally ridiculous. I had the ball stolen from me multiple times per game even when protecting the ball in post-up position.
All-Star is still bad but not intolerable.
I imagine, on Superstar, it's okay. Think PNO is on SS, yeah?Comment

Re: Right Stick Steal needs to be removed
It's a problem in MyPark and Pro Am because 2K mistakenly thought that it would be OK if they let every archetype have the bronze Pick Pocket badge and a steal rating in the 70s. Plus once people get hot in MyPark/Pro Am (which is easy to do, since anyone can unlock the Microwave and Spark Plug badges by playing 20 games of MyCareer on rookie difficulty), their steal rating gets boosted into the 80s.
Steal attempts tend to be fouls when you're just using normal NBA players because not many of them have the Pick Pocket badge and not many of them have a base steal rating in the 70s or higher. Plus it's a lot harder to get a player hot and boost his ratings when he doesn't have the Spark Plug/Microwave badges working in his favor.Last edited by jyoung; 01-17-2017, 06:32 PM.Comment

When I play My Team I can pretty much run up to the PG and swipe the ball 3/5 times so I can imagine its much worse H2H. Makes sense.Comment

Re: Right Stick Steal needs to be removed
Alright, so since almost all of the offense has been nerfed, let's start hitting defense next!
Incoming patch/nerf to where even attempting a steal will result in a foul 98% of the time. Incoming useless HOF Pick Pocket badge.Comment

What is your archetype and how high did you set your playmaking attribute?

Re: Right Stick Steal needs to be removed
In addendum, where you consistently using a pattern? Do you have a go to dribble? A lot of guys do the same dribble combo almost out of habit, so I tend to look for pauses. It's very easy to rip people with just square if they show you the same thing repeatedly, it becomes a timing mini game waiting for the exposed ball.
In my experience, with a Slasher who's playmaking is average attribute wise, I don't notice it. I also avoid long dribble chains, and go into "protect dribble" as soon as I'm about to make contact. Usually if I get ripped it's my fault for screwing around, or It's a random steal here and there.Female Russell Westbrook.
