New NBA Live Rumors... Something Could Be Announced Soon...

The focus of the NBA Live series was on mobile last year, with a promise from EA Sports, that they would be committed to console gamers early this year.

While it's not much to go off of right now, our friends at NLSC have dug up a little scoop.

An EA Korea game classification refers to the game as The Drive to NBA Live on Xbox One, along with an image appearing on Twitter, via TrapSwish.

Everything is speculation and rumor at this point, but EA is hinting at announcing something soon. Guess we will just have to wait and see.

Until something is officially announced, what are you hoping to hear about the next NBA Live game?

Excited to hear see where EA is heading with the franchise. I'm sure the devs are putting in a ton of work to bring it to a level where it can compete with 2K.

So some people speculate this to be live NBA Live 17.5 before they release another game later in the year?

There's no doubt that their mobile game has sparked interest in EA's NBA title and I'm waiting for when they start advertising the game through the app. If the game is stripped down to a few modes but has terrific controls then I'm cool with this!

I don't think Ea can do anything half baked at this point, it would only confirm the long running reputation that's associated with them as a game company, let alone the reputation ea sports has that publishes good games that people complain aren't fully fleshed out experiences, and would probably be the death nail in the NBA live series that's on life support because they haven't delivered what most would say is minimal requirements for a video game in general, not to mention a game that has to resemble a real life counterpart and has direct competition renowned for how accurately it depicts the actual sport.

In my opinion, even if it's a free demo it's still gonna need to have some depth in settings and depth in a few game modes. I think they'd be better off offering a full experience for less than the usual $60 price tag, don't put a year on it, hopefully knock it out the park, update it throughout next season and release the next game in fall 2018, going head to head with 2k is not wise right now, even if they aren't being recognized with praise universally like in years past.

One things for certain ea needs to begin controlling the narrative surrounding this game.

First and foremost I'd like to the game to move and feel realistic. Their animations are really choppy and most look downright awful during any given situation.

Once the game moves and plays like basketball, all I would really want is an online franchise that feels cared about.

I'm a huge basketball fan and I'm just over here dying without a realistic online franchise to play with friends.

I really hope ea can give us something good this year, I was a fan of NBA live 16 and 17 was very good also it played like a real basketball game a chess match somewhat. Ea needs to release the game around all star weekend.

First off they need to bring back the shoot around menu from NBA live 10 that was so awesome I spent countless hours with my little brother on Friday's after school just shooting in the gym with top players at the time it felt like a premium experience.

Secondly ea needs to bring frostbite to the series, if they were able to bring the visuals to new heights in FIFA could you imagine what they could do with a NBA game with a much smaller scale and less going on visually??

From what i heard this is pretty much exactly what it is (not actually named 17.5 but something like it). Was supposed to be coming out in February. Cant say for sure if that has changed or not though.

If EA gives us 2 NBA games in one there I'd certainly be intrigued, that's for sure. I am hoping that they gives us a taste in the demo and a full game that releases around the All-Star break whilst introducing a modern all-star game mode that they were always good at creating. Otherwise, I'd like to see the online mode they gave but with even more content!

There's just something I like about the dunking in Live games that make it look more visceral! For example, this link

Wow. This is the best sports news I've heard in ages. I really miss this series, hiccups and all.

I'd be grateful for this to appear on PS4: a more polished version of last year's, smoother controls, updated facial scans, and even a limited version of the current rosters. Also an EASHL-esque version of drop in based on player type (versus overall rating).

Oh the heck with it. I'm just excited by this, period.

They need to improve animations . Overhaul them from scratch. Each player needs to have their own shooting form etc. I don't mind if I have to wait another year for them to get it right. I've got 2k for now. Ea need to take their time and build the game from the ground up. If blowing 2k out of the water isn't motivation, I don't know what else is.

I enjoyed NBA Live 16 despite it's shortcomings in roster editing and franchise mode. Hopefully if it's released as a traditional console game this year it includes a season mode and a playoff mode. Player editing would be the cherry on top.

I'm willing to give the game a look if it isn't some f2p BS. More choices in sports games is ALWAYS good.

I hope they add more variety of in the paint contact animations because it was an eye sore to see defensive players in position portal out of the way. Also add more layup animations off the backboard instead of scoop floater layup animations.

The game actually played pretty well last year and in many ways played a more truthful game of basketball then the competition. However they lag far behind in the authenticity of how the game looks in action and depth of control. If they could add more depth to the post game, better interaction animations, and a movement towards a proper physics based system it could be a huge leap as there are a lot of positives there to build on. I also thought that their Pro-Am mode was the beginning of something truley special and should be.a continued focus. I even would love a stand-a-lone pro-am game priced at 29.99 with those added improvements. I loved the shorter games in true pick up style, percect for online gaming as you could get in and out, and if matched with horrid teamates the experience only lasts 10 minutes instead of 40.
