    Geographic Recruiting Data

This data comes from 4 consecutive seasons in an offline dynasty. No recruits were created. This is all game-generated. Population figures are from the last official census in 2010.

Here's some basic info on how the game generates recruits in NCAA 14: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...tmlview#gid=00

Here's a breakdown of my large geographic regions: http://m.imgur.com/zkH6TOW

Recruiting Hotbeds (States with over 100 recruits on average):
    Texas (326)
    California (310)
    Florida (278)
    Ohio (188)
    Georgia (155)
    Alabama (110)
    Michigan (100)

Recruiting Wastelands (States with 5 or less recruits on average)
    Montana (2)
    New Hampshire (3)
    Maine (4)
    Wyoming (4)
    Vermont (4)
    Rhode Island (5)
    Massachusetts (5)
    Delaware (5)
    Alaska (5)

    Some interesting patterns I noticed:
    - Population does not matter that much. Many rural states produce far more recruits than urban states. Iowa, on average has 13 recruits while Massachusetts has 5.
    - Population does not change anything in terms of talent rate. In simpler terms, there isn't a population requirement for 5 star recruits. West Virginia, Iowa, North Dakota, and Nebraska each had a 5 star recruit once during this 4 year span, while New York and Arizona did not have one.
    - 3 stars recruits and up make up more than half of all recruits. The national average is 58.2% of all recruits are 3 star and above. The five most talented states (highest percentage while averaging more than 5 recruits) are as follows:
    -Kansas
    -Colorado
    -New Mexico
    -Oregon
    -Wisconsin

Far and away the region with the most recruits is the South, with, on average, 1193 recruits per year. The next closest is the Midwest with 441 recruits per year. The only reason why the West Coast has so many is because of California, which averages 310 recruits a year. The other West Coast states barely produce any. The full order is as follows:
    -South (1193)
    -Midwest (441)
    -West Coast (383)
    -Mid-Atlantic (293)
    -Great Plains (146)
    -Mountain West (131)
    -New England (34)

I don't believe it's possible for the a state to not have a 3 star or above recruit. Over the 4 year span, no state had no 3 star or better recruits. Even D.C. in Year 2, with only one recruit, had a 3 star recruit.

Let me know if you notice any other trends from the data and feel free to point out any problems. I figured this would be interesting to others, especially with all of the recruiting buzz going on.

EA do base recruits #'s for states on real life, except the wasteland states still have too many (usually of the top 2,500 real life recruits per year, the following states usually don't have any recruits whatsoever: VT,NH,ME,RI,DE,MT,ND,SD,WY,AK - no surprise given that those 10 states have just one FBS program between them (Wyoming)

also Florida and Georgia produce far less in dynasty mode than real life, Florida is bigger than Texas in real life, and Georgia produces more recruits than Ohio in real life, but i think that is a programming issue (each state has either a fixed number or an average number assigned, but the total sum of 50 states + DC + Canada is greater than the recruits generated per season, for some reason FL & GA suffer the biggest reductions from their default numbers).

It's not a fixed number. It varies from year to year. The total sum is not greater than the generated number of recruits. Feel free to browse through my raw data.

And I did figure out that it is based on actual recruiting data. But I do know that Texas does typically produce the most IRL. I would also venture to guess that the reason for why those wasteland states still have recruits and why Florida and Georgia's numbers go down is probably the same as the reason for the upset engine. The dynasty mode has some features that are a bit more "socialist," so to speak, than real life.

Now there's a challenging recruiting house rule. You can only recruit for these states.

I'd like to see a USC dynasty try this.
