MyLeague Game Length and Difficulty Help
I don't want to play 12 minute quarters and I don't believe I'm good enough to use hardcore sliders. I've been playing on all star without sliders and the game is slightly arcadey, and maybe could use a slight bump to the difficulty of steals and shooting from anywhere beyond 5 feet. Other than that though, the current difficulty is perfect and very fun. I currently play 6 minute quarters and score between 50 and 70 points depending on the team I'm using and the flow of the game. This leads me to the big question of what kind of quarter length to sim length balance should I be using? In a perfect world, I would make the game just difficult enough to where I could play 6 minutes and normalize it to a full 12 minutes a game. I just don't want my stats getting too inflated. In madden I always play full sim mad hard sliders and have a blast, but the season is short enough for that to be a feasible time commitment. I've dabbled in shorter season lengths and just can't get into it, so I've resigned to the fact that I want to be playing 82 game seasons, even if I sim half of them. If anyone has a good system of selecting which games they play, and which they sim over the course of the season, I'd love to hear about it. But the big question remains, if I can't find a good system for just playing 6 minute quarters and normalizing them to 12, then what should I do? Currently, my best solution has been playing 6 and simming 7 with no normalizing. I just really miss seeing stats that can be compared to real life. Any suggestions?Tags: None -
Re: MyLeague Game Length and Difficulty Help
Best way to find your sweet spot is to first find a qtr length that gives you roughly half the stats you want...about 40 shots and around 50 points scored...then for the simulated stat time length...you double it.
So...if I can get half stats at 4 minute qtrs, I would put sim time at 8..because it wlll double my stats. Play at 6 mins...sim at 12. 3 minutes, sim at 6.
Tricky part to remember is that you always need to switch back sim minutes to 12 when simulating the CPU games, so they have real stats. Right before your game, go in and switch time to your settings, play the game, then switch back to 12 after your done...and sim the cpu games. -

I would use 12 min QTs and just Simcast to Half time.

Re: MyLeague Game Length and Difficulty Help
I second the using of Simcast. I play 12 minute quarters on myleague and just sim the first three quarters and play the 4th if the lead for either teams is possible to overcome.

Re: MyLeague Game Length and Difficulty Help
I also use SimCast with 12-min quarters but bounce between that and playing throughout the game. I only Jump In when a time out is called or at the quarter so it keeps me somewhat honest. Some games, I'll sim whole quarters at a time; others I'll alternate between play/sim. Heck, sometimes I'll even play most of the game. Regardless, it helps me get through them in a timeframe that is closer to what 5-6 min quarters would be if I just played.
Only thing to consider is that the SimCast timing seems off...at 6X speed, the players move faster than the clock but even at 3X speed, the clock seems to move faster than the players. On the one end, you end up with higher scores but on the other, it moves so slow that I don't feel like I'm gaining any time. Maybe I've got some setting that's off though. If anyone knows, please help me out.
As far as which games of the season to play, I usually just pick one game a week and sim the rest. When it comes to the playoffs, I will basically alternate play/sim so I still have to rely on my players' skills (and build a solid team) rather than just my thumbs. I'll sometimes make an exception if I find myself facing elimination but not always.PSN: JWGoNDComment
