I don't like to boast but the community at OS played a major role in the success of NBA 2k. The ideas and the wishes catapulted 2k to surpass the competition. With our input from the smallest of things to the biggest things contributed to the impact 2k has on the market with basketball games. Down below I will list some of the smallest ideas from the community that made an overall impact to what we see today in the current game. The We Built This City Song is the anthem for this post lol.
Story mode community asked for, dunk packages, layup packages, footplanting, user input bounce pass community asked for, classic teams, sideline interviews with Doris Burke and college teams. Community wanted to get rid of black silhouette pictures, OS wanted cheerleader dance routines.
People wished for player cards they got it in Myteam. Community asked for All Star Weekend to be part of MyGM and Mycareer. Community wanted endorsements and commercials to be put in My career. Community complained all the fans heads were stationary and were all focused to the middle of the floor. So what did 2k do they implemented fan head tracking and now the fans focus on the action. Community wanted multiplayer celebrations for game winners.
Community wanted to save games while in the middle of playing. Community wanted to create their own shoes. I've been a lurker for a long time so I know these things, I even remember this one poster who kept wishing for Euroleague teams and immediately got shot down from people saying this is a NBA game not Euroleague. The very next year what did 2k do they added Euroleague teams. Little things like player expressions,armpit hair and mouthpieces for steph curry and lebron james all came from community feedback and are now in the game. Community wanted dribbling moves to be put on the right stick.
