Should I give up on the Emerald League diamond shoe?

Hey guys, wanted your opiniom on whether I should just give up on my diamond shoe grind. I am still in Emerald League and just got a loss on mt first game after my first loss after resetting it for the 5th time.

I am wondering if it is worth it to keep resetting or whether it'd be better to move up leagues as I want to move to All-Star difficulty. I focus more on the inside game and always get splashed upon, so I figure the game might be more suited to me in the leagues above.

OR, I can keep persisting with sweeping Emerald/Sapphire if you guys think it'll only get harder from here in terms of opponents (i.e. it's just a lack of skill in my part as if I were good enough to cut it, I'd be able to sweep Emerald/Sapphire leagues anyway).

    Thanks for listening!

Competition and lineups should get better/harder, but the difficulty level, once you get up to Ruby, should more suit your game.

Ultimately, only you can answer the question, as it really comes down to your individual patience and whether or not time spent playing is a waste if it can't go directly toward getting a Diamond Shoe.

Definitely keep going for it. It will never be easier than the first time because it requires the least amount of wins to get the shoe. I did the emerald reset after I got screwed by a disconnect and I don't regret it. Diamond shoes are super helpful, especially on guys you consider end game players

It will only get harder because it'll require a extra win every league you move up. Sapphire & emerald leagues are on the same difficulty setting. So you won't see a difference in gameplay. Focus on improving your game you don't have to rush through MTO. You should be able to pound the paint in the emerald league. Build a balanced team that can shoot & defend. You'll get better over time, IMO diamond shoes are to valuable to pass up on. Especially in your 1st run through MTO.

        Good luck

You are already in all-star difficulty, you move to Superstar at Ruby. I personally think the diamond shoes are some of the best rewards that this game has so I am going for all of them. The first two are by far the easiest.

As someone that took 8 tries to get the diamond shoes on Emerald and then 5 tries to get it on Sapphire, I would recommend going for it. The shoes are the best non-player reward in the game IMO.

Get those Diamond Shoes. They're game changers on the right player.

Definitely go for the diamond shoes. Like everyone said it only gets harder from here on out.

Thanks guys, appreciate your thoughts. That helps a lot with my decision, I'll continue to grind it.

I have been soooo frustrated with not being able to sweep it, but since hearing all of your own experiences/frustrations.. I will persist. I've had about 5 cracks at it (one was heartbreakingly ruined by an infuriating opponent quit which gave me a loss at 3-0), and I now have enough reassurance to keep on the quest for my first pair of diamond shoes

                  Cheers!

Re: Should I give up on the Emerald League diamond shoe?

I must have done Emerald 10 times, and almost every time went 5-1. Often I'd lose due to a disconnect or other issue. It was insanely frustrating. Eventually I did it. My big revelation was to use a cut-rate team, think like 87-88 overall, or even lower, rather than the best lineup you can put together. You will play significantly weaker opponents on average.

Sapphire was a breeze in comparison. It took me two tries I went 12-1. Ruby was brutal, I went 4-8 and was demoted. I then went 6-0 in Sapphire without really trying. Don't know why Sapphire is so easy. I'm currently 4-5 in my second run through Ruby (I don't use real money or play the AH really, so my squad is usually a little worse than my opponents at this level).

I'm doing the same thing, I got to Diamond League and every team i faced had all diamond squad and was not fun at all. You have no chance when half of the other team have a 90 contested 3 ball. I was lucky to go 8-0 in Amy League to get Shawn Marion with Simmons/KAT Duo, Embiid, Ruby Jimmy and Kawhi.

I don't spend money on VC, I just play for fun using players who i like in real life. My only Diamond in my lineup right now is my favorite player Jimmy G Buckets.

                        Starting five at the moment:

                        Sapp. Derrick Rose
                        Diamond Jimmy
                        Ruby Kawhi
                        Ruby AD
                        Sapp. Joel Embiid

Going for my first diamond shoe in the Emerald League.

                          Guys...I got there!!!

I think the shoe I got is somewhat underwhelming? Is it meant for a big slow defender like Yao?! Not sure if they're any good, or even who to put them on... +9 shot close seems like such a waste

Notwithstanding the shoe, I am so glad I stuck to the task and swept Emerald as I think I'm playing a much better game now. Bring on the next pair!!!

This is a great tip. I'm totally gonna do that because I don't even like playing with some of my higher rated cards.

That's not a bad shoe at all. It's not as good as the 3 pt shoe or the speed/accel/speedwball shoe but it's in the next tier.

I think it's ideal for a slasher, not really a slow big like Yao. It would fit Amethyst Kobe perfectly, his driving layup/acceleration/shot close attributes are 89/94/85 and his main weakness offensively is how often he misses mildly contested layups. This shoe would really help solve that.
