Seeing What Pitcher You're Facing on Lineup Screen
This is an absolute must add for the next patch or at the very least knowing if you're facing a LHP or RHP, for obvious reasons. They had this in 16, why remove it? I, like alot of others don't feel like wasting $500 on my DD team, so I dont have 9 diamonds on my team, and have players who mash LHP's and struggle vs RHP's, and vice versa, so it makes sense to know who you're facing. Or at the very least let us make 2 lineups from our squad screen one for LHP the other for RHP.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

Re: Seeing What Pitcher You're Facing on Lineup Screen
They removed it because people would always leave the game like a coward on the line up screen when they saw a lhp because they build a one dimensional team and have no team building skills.
God forbid the game makes you have a balanced line up and bench and not all 99 contact and power vs righties.

I actually like the mechanic and really hope they don't remove it. To me, it has definitely led to more variety in lineups/more in game strategy. In previous installments, starting pitcher handiness was essentially meaningless. This year, if you want to be competitive you have to learn how to hit same handed pitching, I love it.
I would much rather them remove directional hitting if they want to improve online play.
People often complain that this prevents them from "platooning." Having every player in your lineup be opposite hand of the pitcher is not a platoon. There's such thing as an every day player, and last year in DD there wasn't (aside from a 99ovr or a switch hitter). That does not promote skill or strategy.Last edited by SigmundFraud; 04-21-2017, 09:27 AM.Comment

100% agree with this. People act like this is some gamebreaking thing. Its what they had to do because of countless people abusing it. I would rather they think of a better fix for it but its not all that bad at all.I actually like the mechanic and really hope they don't remove it. Definitely agree with the directional hitting nonsense too, I cant fathom how they would never let anyone play with timing online but this is somehow ok. Dont get me started on the strike zone camera and directional hitting people, must be real hard to tap x when the ball is on your tv.Comment

I get so tired of losing to scrubs on BR because they pull low and away fastballs for homeruns. It needs to be removed.Comment

Re: Seeing What Pitcher You're Facing on Lineup Screen
All these people who are complaining about directional hitting in online. I wonder how many players use it? The reason I ask is because let's say 40 percent do with the amount of complaining that people do that number must be close because it seems like such an often thing, then how many of those would just stop playing online because they had to switch to zone?
Let's say half of those quit playing online for that reason that would leave 20% of players not playing dd anymore. Is that what people really want or is it just that they feel cheated because of a hitting style equalizer?
Personally, I could care less what people hit online because I suck at playing online anyways but the ones that do and are really good at the game mashing homeruns all over the field, what does it matter? I haven't checked all the people that have complained obviously but most have a pretty decent record so is it just looking to get easy wins or would you rather have good games? I don't honestly know and I'm not trolling, just asking because for me, I could seriously care less if a guy could off 10 pitches that are low or a guy that's really good cranking golf shot 500 foot home runs. All modes of hitting have perks and disadvantages

Re: Seeing What Pitcher You're Facing on Lineup Screen
What I would like to see is a VS Right lineup and a VS Left Lineup.
But that would not be enough because then people would once again know if they were facing a lefty or not and they could just back out.
I think they just have to make it so that backing out at any point after the pitchers are revealed results in a loss.
What I think would also be a nice edition is if they actually allowed two DD roster sets so you could have your normal roster and a secondary one for missions and/or events. When I populated my roster with crappy AL Central players to achieve a mission goal then I was kind of locked in. If I wanted to play a Event or ranked game then I would have had to change my roster, played the ranked game, and then change the roster back to go back to my mission.Comment

It has no place in a 3-inning game mode like BR where a homerun or two can easily win you the game.
It's not as bad in ranked seasons because 1) good players in higher tiers don't use it and 2) barely anyone has good enough players for it to be consistently effective.
Directional hitting is incredibly annoying when you're pitching to guys that have high 90s power and they just sit there trying to pull a flyball. I would be content with them just removing it from BR.
The perk of using directional hitting is that it requires no skill to be successful sometimes. I understand using it if you're actually trying to place balls, but a majority of directional users just try to pull everything. It's just stupid, and the probability of playing a good game with someone who uses it is low.Last edited by SigmundFraud; 04-21-2017, 11:00 AM.Comment

There's so many issues. Imagine how frustrating it would be to get a loss because you lose connection in the pregame lineup screen (happens to me all the time). I could go on for days.
Speaking of lineups and mission inconveniences: How about the fact that the All-Star Griffey spotlight mission has a deadline of 30 games, and it counts games that Griffey isn't even in your lineup or even on your team?Comment

Re: Seeing What Pitcher You're Facing on Lineup Screen
This is my main wish. FIFA, for instance, allows you to save multiple lineups, for various situations (max bronze, all from one country etc.)What I think would also be a nice edition is if they actually allowed two DD roster sets so you could have your normal roster and a secondary one for missions and/or events. When I populated my roster with crappy AL Central players to achieve a mission goal then I was kind of locked in. If I wanted to play a Event or ranked game then I would have had to change my roster, played the ranked game, and then change the roster back to go back to my mission.
I now have to write down lineups in a notebook, so I can remember to put it back in correct order after I switch players out for missons (all rookies, loaded with 2B for conquest etc.) It is only a couple of minutes, but it still discourages me to probe arou d and instead forces me to stick to one mode for a while.
As for the problem in the title, I had no idea that was a problem, or that people actually load up one dimensional players.
Granted, I played perhaps 5 online matches in 5 years, so it never bothered me. But it doesn't bother me vs. CPU either because part of my enjoyment is building a solid realistic team and lining their batting order up in the way that suits my playstyle.Comment

Re: Seeing What Pitcher You're Facing on Lineup Screen
I see both sides of the argument. Like it or not, playing lefty righty matchups is a big part of baseball. I get the whole making a well balanced team thing, but it's also fun to have a guy like Schwarber, who's dirt cheap. Your not going to play him ever if you don't know if it's a lefty or righty on the mound so it basically makes him useless other than pinch hitting. I feel like the importance should be placed on the pitcher not the batter so if I don't want to face Schwarber with a righty i'll put in a reliever. I dunno you burn through pitchers so fast in these 3 inning games anyways.
It's tough though. Unfortunately you have to make things not ideal to try and curb the cheesers.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Re: Seeing What Pitcher You're Facing on Lineup Screen
I agree with this 100%. Why can't we at least have it for offline diamond dynasty games (against computer or conquest)? Or even better, like was stated earlier, give us the ability to have a lineup against RHP and a lineup against LHP. And while we are at it, how about adding the DH (at least as an option). This mode is tailor made for a DH! If nothing else you should at least have a DH when playing conquest games or CPU games against AL teams.Last edited by TheBigTee; 04-22-2017, 09:05 AM.Comment

The problem is that people will still just make their lineup of entirely opposite handed hitters that specialize in hitting righties/lefties. Tons of the people that play this game online are just losers trying to get a cheap win. They don't care about real baseball or baseball strategy, which is why this mechanic was implemented. There are plenty of left handed hitters that are serviceable against left handed pitching, but nobody cares about that.
Everyone just wants the easiest possible scenario, which is an opposite handed AB with a guy that can hit homeruns. In real baseball, Robinson Cano is not removed from the 3 hole because they're facing a lefty. Being able to set your lineup prior to facing a left handed pitcher would just lead to people doing the exact same thing as they did last year. The bottom line is that it's cheap And makes the game easy, even against the CPU.Last edited by SigmundFraud; 04-22-2017, 10:01 AM.Comment

Re: Seeing What Pitcher You're Facing on Lineup Screen
Stop with this argument of real life. This game is not real life nor is it ever going to be in an online game. You see these diamond teams out there that would be millions and millions more than even the Yankees would spend with pitching staffs that would rival the top 5 all time greats all on one team so don't sit there and preach realism when it comes to having an idea of what hand the pitcher is vs you.
Having a line up of players from different eras, different season, players who are 80 years old all mixed into the teams that are there is not real life either. The whole real life argument is meaningless without following along with a true real life product.
