    E3 2017 - Nintendo Discussion Thread

Welcome to the Nintendo E3 2017 Discussion Thread. Here, all of us can discuss what's listed below as well as the actual direct/spotlight itself.

    Full E3 2017 Press Conference Schedule -

    NINTENDO
    Tuesday June 13th, 2017
    12:00pm EST / 9:00am PST

    Officially announced games -
    • Super Mario Odyssey
    • ARMS
    • Splatoon 2

Others Nintendo games announced for Switch, but not confirmed to show -
    • Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC
    • Xenoblade 2
    • Fire Emblem Warriors
    • Fire Emblem Switch (This is the least likely to be shown)

    Rumored upcoming Nintendo games -
    • Super Smash Bros 4 Switch Port
    • Pokemon Stars: This is supposedly an expanded version of Pokemon Sun/Moon.
    • I listed Mario x Rabbids: Kingdom Battle in the Ubisoft section, but it's probably worth mentioning here too.

    Additional notes -
    • Monster Hunter Generations Generations Switch Version was announced for the Switch. If it's coming over, this would probably be the right time to announce it.
    • Retro has not released a game in a very long time.
    • Platinum is making a game for Switch. It's unclear where that is in development.
    • Koei Tecmo implied they had a second Switch exclusive. Hyrule Warriors port maybe?
    • Square Enix/Silicon Studio's Project Octopath Traveler is quite likely in a showable state.
    • I'm not sure if Shin Megami Tensei: New Project is actually very far along in development.
    • No More Heroes 3 was announced for the Switch at the system's unveil, but it sounded like it had just started development.
    • Nintendo will be holding E3 tournaments for Splatoon 2 and ARMS.
    • Beyond the above games, there's a wide variety of other third party games that could be shown ranging from AAA ports to multiplatform Japanese games to a huge variety of indie titles. Nintendo is less predictable than most in terms of what they show from third parties, especially when their games aren't at least hypothetically exclusive.
    • There was also a rumor about a SNES classic, though it's worth noting that the NES classic was announced on a random day instead of E3.

Me too, but I'm worried that in typical EA style, the Switch will get a bastardized version of FIFA.

I read somewhere on here that it's going to be relatively the same as consoles but with a different engine and no Journey mode.

Not sure that'd really be EA's fault. Look at how simple NBA Playgrounds is and even it was noticeably degraded on the Switch. Anything close to even last-gen FIFA would be a commendable effort by EA.

I'm fine with Switch not being a full console...took me a bit to get there, but playing Zelda made me realize it can have amazing games still...

With how it's selling 3rd parties will slowly start making more and more games

                  E3 2017 - Nintendo Discussion Thread

All off screen footage I have seen of FIFA on the Switch tablet has impressed. Maybe I had lower expectations than some. All I know is everything I've read and seen so far has come as a pleasant surprise.

                  Eurogamer impressions:
                  - Says game plays well & is at least as responsive as Fifa 17
                  - Doesn't look as good as PS4 Pro version (shocking news!)
                  - Says single Joycon mode is fiddly but does an okay job.

Eurogamer interview with the Producer of the Switch version:
                  - Completely custom engine for Switch, not Frostbite, not Ignite
                  - 3D crowds, grass, new lighting
                  - Fifa Ultimate Team Icons are in
                  - Everything in FUT works "almost exactly the same as other platforms", but no Champions.
                  - Can buy packs, manage your team anywhere you can connect to wifi
                  - No "new animation every frame" (new in Frostbite versions of FIFA 18), retains old "new animation every step" from FIFA 17
                  - 60 FPS
                  - No atmosphere effects/celebrating in the crowd since that's Frostbite
                  - New overhauled crossing is in the Switch version
                  - New hard tackle is in
                  - The new quick subbing isn't in yet, but the producer says he's "adding it to the list"
                  - No Journey since it's powered by Frostbite
                  - The producer says they could get Frostbite on the Switch, but they thought a custom engine would be a better experience
                  - Doesn't close the door on feature parity with the console versions in the future. Need to see where the platform goes from here

                  Off screen footage:

That looks damn good for a handheld to me. And from the sound of things EA put effort into the game.

Leaves me even more eager to see how NBA 2K turns out.

FIFA looks and plays well from everyone I spoke with who played it at EA Play.

NBA Playgrounds is a bad example. They literally coded it in a week. The new patch will improve visuals and other areas of the game that's coming this week.

FIFA does look really good for the Switch which is intriguing to me since I'm planning on buying one soon. I love the ability to play it anywhere really and believe I'll use it a lot in bed or other convenient areas.

Definitely interested in seeing what else they have to show at E3 tomorrow.

Pokemon for Switch might make me buy one.

Definitely going to be buying a Switch within the next month now for sure, I love what I'm seeing from them.

Pokemon is my favorite gaming series of all time so I'll buy anything they put out.
